Always have liked coming here.... I drive from Frederick co. All the way here that's a 1 hour drive.... I come here because of the clothes selection and the friendly staff. I honestly stopped going to the one closest home because of their poor customer service. Which goes to show that, treating your customer with respect and courtesy matters. But on Saturday February 2nd I went to look for a dress for my 6 year old daughter. There was so many women, and girls. We found one we went to pay. I noticed a lot of women asking if things where on sale but the cashiers seemed professional and answered them respectfully. The cashier that attended me took things from women and scanned them put their dresses in bags and tied the ends for them. It came to me and this woman who was not wearing a name tag didn't take my things I set them down on the counter for her and i don't mean the one on the top of where the credit card thing is at... I mean the one where she places things for her to do get job. She left me standing there with the dress with out taking it out of my hand. She put a sticker on it and scanned it while on my hand she looked up at me for the first time acknowledging my presence and bluntly told me. This dress is not on sale. I looked at her and said I know I don't put things on the counter unless I can afford it. She grabbed the dress did not hang it up to bag it she crumpled it on the counter pulled out the bag and slammed the dress into it. I ended up closing the dress bag before fixing it after I payed. You know I don't expect any different service than anyone else. I go here to get quality items and service. I saw how well the others where treated and felt a bit of anger of how i was treated. I wont stop coming here because my daughter loves the dresses. But if I see this woman I will make it a point to ask her name and make sure I talk to someone who can adress her properly. And will go to someone who can treat me...

While they do have a bigger men’s selection than Nordstroms (though not a better selection), I can’t stress this enough, it’s a terrible, god awful idea to have the people working the floor on commission. I’ve been to this store a few times for some specific things that I knew only they had, and my god, the employees are vultures. They care far more about watching for shoplifters (not to protect the merchandise, or the principal of the situation, no no, I’ve literally heard an associate run a person down because she suspected a lady was just walking off with luggage, because she was going to miss a commission on the luggage… if there aren’t other registers in the store to check out at…but again, she’d miss out on that sweet commission, so, for good measure, i watched her also call security on this person (who was on the top level, and closer to 10 check out desks, than the two exit doors) yet that constituted theft (in the Associates Courtroom) (the next straight to DVD reality court room TV mini series). But really she just saw it as theft of her commission as the customer very well could’ve went to any number of other registers (but not hers).
So if I’m being fair, and I think that I am, if you’re one of those people that really enjoys going used car shopping with good, but not an 800 credit score, and a few grand for a down payment, and just really love how cars sales people treat you, then, by all means, Dillards is your place.
They couldn’t care less about how you looked or felt in what you are buying, just as long as you are buying…and from the representative, in the correct section.
And make sure you get those people in those sections memorized and use flash cards. Because if you don’t, you will absolutely have security called on you.
Good...
Read moreI'm sure this review goes absolutely nowhere. Dillards will be totally good regardless of this review and without my business but sharing this into the "ether" makes me feel a tiny bit better I guess. I shop here all the time. Spent tons of money with Dillards. I know that doesn't matter with large corporations.
Bought a suit like I've done many times. In house tailor tailored it and it looked horrible afterwards. Went to return/even offered just an exchange. The manager, Monty, awkwardly greeted me like I was ruining his day and told me there was nothing he can do. He can't resell it and it would just go into the trash. Which I understand, but it was their tailor that messed it up. I wasn't trying to do one over on them. Just didn't want the suit they botched and I would've spent the same money at the same store. I figured I could have exchanged it for another one. I would have spent even more money for something else if necessary. Instead of keeping a customer and trying to have any type of solution, Monty preferred to save the billion dollar company their itsy bitsy cost of the one suit. I'm sure they lose more merchandise in theft every day than the impact this would have had in their store. Doesn't matter to do the right thing and own their mistake. Oh...
