The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf — Restaurant in Long Beach

Yesterday we stopped bye on our afternoon walk, bought a pumpkin ice blended (which was eventually enjoyed). We waited in a line for the only bathroom customers are allowed to use for 15 minutes while a transient who entered just before us took his bath and did laundry in the sink. We knocked on the locked door to let him know customers were waiting. We even asked management to allow the paying customers in line to use the employee bathroom which was locked. The manager refused that request. But she called through the still-locked customer bathroom door asking the transient if he was okay or needed anything. After the excruciating quarter hour of shifting from one foot to another was over, the paying customers stared in disbelief as the shameless squatter left with his laundry under his arm and walk out the door without purchasing anything and without management saying anything to him. As I left CBTL, I recommended to the barista that the door combo should be changed, and a "Customers Only" sign displayed on it, if they wish to show appreciation to their paying customers.

What is it about CBTL that I love? Well let's start with the fact that they came out with the No added sugar Ice Blended Mocha long before Starbucks and their drinks actually have a flavor other than just Super sweet. The biggest impression though is their friendly personable staff. I mean eye contact and smiling faces and dispositions. Even the managers are out there talking to guests and working alongside their team. Hey Corporate if you read these comments just letting you know your teams at work are doing what you want them to to keep folks coming back. I have been a loyal guest for over 22 years and will go out of my way to find the CBTL wherever I venture. The 4 I frequent most often are in Long Beach, The Market place on PCH. First time going to any coffee bean place and I am greatly disappointed. I went in the morning, surprisingly it wasn't busy and ordered 2 drinks and 2 food items. They gave us our 3 of our items, not the remaining drink. So we waited, giving the benefit of the doubt that maybe the iced drink with no modifications takes a while to make. I decided to ask if maybe they forgot after a while because they gave the person after me their drinks and they were socializing with each other. They did in fact forget my drink.

Very disappointing and hope they implement a better system so they don't forget...
