Shame on this restaurant for calling this a discount.
This was not a bad dealâŚ..It was exploitation!!
Kyochon is taking advantage of delivery app promotions by advertising âbuy one, get one freeâ while quietly changing what the item actually is. What used to be a full chicken has turned into a pile of chopped-up bones with the meat stripped off. Itâs a trick. And itâs annoying. đ¤Ź
I have literally given Kyochon a positive review before. Not perfect, but fair. I said it was hit or miss, but when they got it right, the chicken was flavorful and crispy. I called the boneless pieces juicy. That was based on real, decent delivery food.
This time was completely different. We ordered two whole chickensâSoy Garlic and Honeyâunder their buy-one-get-one promotion.
We paid almost $50, even with the promotion. In other words, they are trying to charge $50 for one of these meals alone. And what showed up was nothing close to a whole chicken. No breasts. No thighs. No full cuts. Just broken bones coated in batter. đŚ´
It felt like they used the real meat for other dishes and gave us the scraps. This wasnât a mistake. It was a strategy. Create a fake âdeal,â reduce the portion size, change the product, split one meal across two containers, and pass it off as generous.
Flavor alone might have earned 2 stars. But this wasnât about taste. It was about being misled. I have never felt more tricked by a restaurant order.
We ended up having to order from another place because it was either that or eat chicken bones for dinner. đą
Yes, there were a few pieces with meat, but youâd get three times as much actual chicken from a store-bought rotisserie for eight dollarsâcompared to both of these so-called âwhole chickensâ combined. đ¤¨
I want a refund.
Verdict. Charisma 2. Uniqueness 2. Nerve...
Read moreI frigggggggggggggin love their fried chicken. Just talking about this place makes me drool so hard. I believe this was the first LA/K-town branch. mmm. Sometimes I would just drive down here during lunch to pick up some food. Tip - call ahead. It takes them about 20 minutes to prepare your order. If there's a wait - they might have some soft serve (but last I heard, the machine was gone).
I wish they would give you banchan for free though :( Pickles are about $1 in this teeny tiny container. If I'm eating here, I would also get some fries, or some spicy red sauce with ramen and fish cakes (one of my favorite bar foods)
I normally order the whole fried chicken - half regular (soy-garlic) and half spicy. I haven't tried the honey flavors, because the rare occasion that I'm ordering from here - I just want my spicy and soy-garlic. I need the soy-garlic to counter balance the spicy. AND mind you, the spicy - is SPICEY! A friend of mine eats spicy and it was too much for them. :) hehe You know it's spicey then.
A little pricey for their food, and I'm not sure what type of chicken it is, because it is some tiny (cornish hen) pieces that they serve. The fried chicken is triple fried, barely any batter, and it's not that sauce-y (which in my mind is PERFECTION!).
gaaah, can't wait to come back. nom nom nom. Please open one in the 626?!?!
Oh, and leftovers are pretty bombdiggity. The sauce just soaks in and NOM. Yes, it does get spicier :) happy tasting~!
If you're doing to-go, there's a little spot you can park without having to valet. And of course, since this is K-town, valet is $2. This KyoChon location shares a lot with a Korean BBQ, a Bar, Face shop and some other...

Kyochon is located on the corner of the plaza so it's easy to find. We came to order in person, and it took 15 minutes for the food to come out. I believe the whole plaza is valet parking until 11 PM ish but there's metered parking all around. They have a daily special where they give 15% off a specific item. Like most KFC places now, they do charge for sides & sauces.
Red (Hot) Sauce ($0.50): This is actually really spicy but you might not feel it until later because it's masked by a bit sourness so it's like a spicy sweet & sour sauce. I had an immediate burn on my mouth but my husband didn't feel it until after the meal.
Garlic Sauce ($0.50): This was like a watered down Chick-fil-A sauce. I didn't really taste the garlic so this sauce didn't add much except moisture to the dry wings.
Pickled Radish ($1.50): The radish comes sealed which is nice. The cubes are a bit bigger than other places.
Soy Garlic Wings (Medium $18.99): These wings were at Wingstop level. The wings were small, not fried, & dry. The soy garlic flavor is subtle but also not that good either. We tried dipping it in the sauces but it didn't help. I could only eat 2 wings max.
Honey Boneless Chicken Pop (Medium $17.99): These were freaking amazing and so delicious The honey flavor was there and good. The chicken was super juicy. The batter was a lot but really good. This was one of the best boneless chickens we tried in Korea Town so we would definitely come back for this.
It's crazy to see the stark contrast in taste between the chicken wings and chicken pop which makes me conflicted on how to rate this place so take my review with a...
