D.S. & DURGA — Local services in Los Angeles

I had the pleasure of visiting D.S. & Durga for the first time last Thursday with a friend, and the experience was exceptional from the moment we walked in. We were warmly greeted by two lovely ladies at the front, who immediately made us feel welcome. Shortly after, Jonathan joined the conversation, and it was clear from the start that the team is passionate about the brand. They shared fascinating stories about the brand’s background, how it all started, and the inspirations behind the fragrances we were exploring.

During our visit, I was thrilled to hear The Cramps playing over the speakers, and I mentioned how much I loved their diverse and progressive music selection. One of the ladies informed us that it was part of the soundtrack for their new Halloween launch, which was happening the next day. How cool! I was impressed to learn that every fragrance has its own playlist, a creative touch by the co-founders, David Seth (D.S.) and Kavi Ahuja (Durga). David, being a musician, incorporated his love of music into the D.S. & Durga universe, while Kavi, an architect, plays a significant role in designing their unique and inspiring concept stores.

Jonathan’s enthusiasm for his job was contagious! He walked us through the store with such ease and excitement, showing us everything without any pressure or sales pitch, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. His genuine passion for the brand made me want to make a purchase, and I’m so glad I did.

I ended up buying the Concrete After Lightning candle and a sample pack of four fragrances: Notorious Oud, Debaser, Big Sur Eucalyptus, and Radio Bombay (the latter two were Jonathan’s excellent recommendations). I quickly fell in love with Debaser and Notorious Oud. The purchase also came with a bounce-back offer, which allows me to apply $40 towards a full-size fragrance—a fantastic incentive to return!

The packaging was also a thoughtful touch—my purchase was neatly presented in a brand-labeled tote bag.

Overall, my experience at D.S. & Durga was memorable, and Jonathan played a huge part in that. If you’re looking to explore niche fragrances in a laid-back and inspiring environment, I highly recommend visiting this store! I’ll definitely...

Ok, it's easy to love the products. Beautiful, clever scents. Great packaging.

But here's a shout out to the amazing staff at the AK location. Most specifically Leah G., who corrected an online problem with my gift order like, SNAP.

Somehow, deep in the craziness of the holiday season, she got the order straightened out, the package on its way, and yes, omg, overnighted to make sure it would be there on time.

This rating is reflective of both D.S. & Durga’s products (they’re amazing, unique and beautifully packaged) as well as of Leah & team at the Abbott-Kinney location. A Christmas gift wasn’t going to arrive on time, they were able to accommodate by sending the same products to me by local carrier, while allowing me to return the late duplicate order once it arrived.
