I regret stopping into this bar at 4pm on a Saturday. It wasn’t busy in the slightest but we walked up to the bar and probably waited 5 minutes, all while being completely ignored by one of the bartenders standing right in front of us having conversation with other customers. When we were finally acknowledged by the second bartender I ordered two Long Island iced teas. The bartender outwardly smirked and said “We don’t do Long Island iced teas.” So I asked for a rum punch instead. Instead of responding the bartender just took a placard with a QR code and threw it down it in front of me. Ok, weird, considering it’s a full bar and they can’t throw together some rum and fruit juices? So I ordered a drink from the menu. Then the bartender didn’t ask if we wanted to keep it open or closed, he just took my card and put my check down in front of me without any thank you or any word at all for that matter. The service, both in urgency and manners, is lacking to say the least. The only redeeming thing about this place is the backyard patio with lots of seating and tables. Our old fashioned was poorly made and my spritz was just alright. As a queer woman, and even just a paying customer for that matter, it disappoints me to be treated like this in what is supposed to be...

Read moreOh, where do I begin? I have the same relationship with The Roosterfish as a fat kid has with his fudgsicle. (Confession: I'm that fat kid, and I do love this bar just as much as I love my fudgsicles). It is a type of dive-bar you can always look to for comfort and open arms, where the memories will always be happy and the realities always get better. It is open bright early at 6 a.m. daily and probably quite busy with the same old guys I run into when I frequent in the evening. They provide everything you need for a good time. Cheap drinks served way too strong, by a bartender who is 6 times older than a woman her Jessica Simpson booty shorts were designed to fit. She is spunky and slightly pretentious providing fascinating entertainment if you get bored with the drunk locals, antique juke box, pool table, or dart board. The shadiness of The Roosterfish is almost endearing and the eclectic group of regulars always...
