HOMEGOODS is an incongruity. This large store is not quite your family's department store, yet it contains many interesting elements.
Displays offer a limited selection of foods, kitchenware, pet products, furniture, electronics, toys, and sessional items. Prices are low - marked down from what to expect at retail.
Some of the aisles are wheelchair difficult. Most of the merchandise is tightly shelved. The minimal displays are kept simple. There's a public bathroom, but no restaurant.
Years ago every department store had a place to eat or just relax before you and your companion returned to the shopping mission.
There are other differences:
HomeGoods is a single story. Therefore, there are no elevator with neatly uniformed operators wearing white gloves, who call the departments on each floor while interjecting today's special in the restaurant. (She refers to it as "The Tea Room.") Then, there was the fashion show and amazing displays, many are animated. Sales people could be found near their register and knew the merchandise in their department.
I could find no staff on HomeGoods' sales floor.
Bathrooms and parking are ADA compatible.
To checkout, just follow the serpentine line, at the front of the store, until reaching an open register. There are lots of tchotchkes to pick up along the way. Fragile items are wrapped in paper. They do not charge for bags. Credit cards are accepted.
So in many ways, discount department stores have lost their charm. It's just not the kind of magical shopping experience I remember as a kid.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an amazing experience at HomeGoods thanks to the exceptional customer service I received from Jeannie at the cashier. I had lost my receipt and was unsure if I would be able to return an item, but Jeannie went above and beyond to assist me. She was incredibly patient and kind, giving me the opportunity to test all my credit cards until we found the transaction.
Her dedication to helping me, even when the situation was complicated, truly stood out. Jeannieās professionalism and warm demeanor made the process stress-free and pleasant. I left the store feeling valued as a customer, which speaks volumes about the quality of service at HomeGoods.
Thank you, Jeannie, for turning what could have been a frustrating experience into a positive one! I will definitely continue to shop here and recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Home Goods, but had a very disappointing experience with one of the managers, Juan. I found a stain on my item and couldn't find another one. So I asked for a discount as it is damaged. First he said it's not damaged, it was how it was manufactured. Then he said they sometimes buy defective items. He took it away and proceeded to try and "clean" it. Then set it down and implied that I could take it or leave it. But refused to give me any discount. By the way, it was a $10 item and giving a 10% discount is fairly standard. I bought it because I don't really care about a dollar and will try to address the stain at home, but it was the principle. Juan is so dismissive and rude. His behavior indicates he doesn't care one bit about customer satisfaction. Completely...
