I really want to like this place. I’ve been coming here over the years bc they get the job done…but my latest massage December 2022 on New Year’s Eve was disappointing mainly due to the masseuse’s lack of etiquette. She put her phone right by my head ON THE TABLE - I could sense it and see it lighting up even with my head down - I lifted my head to check and yup, there it was inches from my head. She also answered two calls with her headphones in. They were brief but still, can’t you go the hour without the phone? So rude and unprofessional. There should be no phones in the massage rooms. Ruins the ambiance, and quality of the service. My most recent experience I was laying on the table waiting for her to come in for a while. I know they were busy, but she ended early and it wasn’t technically a full hour. This place is def in and out, no frills. I give it three stars bc I have experienced decent massages here and usually leave feeling better than when I came in. Side not, it’s crazy I have to tell them no fingernails on the scalp. And the face massage is just not my cup of tea. Too rough.
Thinking about trying one of the other places around the corner next time because my most recent experience really left a bad taste...
Read moreHaving seen their high ratings, I signed up to do 2 hours of deep tissue massage with hot stones. What I ended up getting is a very low-effort massage with no actual deep tissue pressure. I came in with quite a sore body and in the end I left feeling the same.
When I asked to increase the pressure, the masseuse maybe started pressing with a little more effort but that’s it.
I’ve had a bunch of deep tissue massages outside of the US and this is hands down the worst quality deep tissue massage I’ve ever had.
Other minor courtesy things:
I’m giving it two stars because: they applied hot stones and hot stones are nice even if you don’t try hard; the price was relatively OK and they could sign me up on...
Read moreI’ve been coming to both Jjs locations for a few years now and I highly recommend their massages. The masseuses are super strong and very skilled and the facial / head massages are fantastic. The price ($50 cash per hour) is incredible for LA and it really seems fair to give a $10+ tip (20%) when they are providing a great service at such a reasonable cost. They almost always have availability when you call and are very friendly at the shop. I noticed people mentioned that they had used their phone during the massage, and that has happened during a couple of my massages, and while I agree that that doesn’t provide the most relaxing vibe, I found that that specific massage may have been the best!
So honestly, you can go pay $100+ for a massage anywhere else in LA but you can get 2 better massages at JJs for the same and support a local women...
