Upon my arrival at LAX's United Polaris Lounge around 11 AM, I was pleasantly greeted by the onset of lunch service, featuring a brand-new menu making its debut that day. The culinary experience kicked off with the Chicken Lemon Soup, which was nothing short of fabulous—a real highlight of the meal.
However, the cheese platter presented a minor setback, offering only blue cheese—a variety I'm not particularly fond of. I would have appreciated a more diverse cheese selection. The salmon, while fresh, lacked the distinctive flavor I've grown accustomed to with Norwegian salmon in Scandinavia, coming across as a bit bland and overly fishy for my taste.
Given the new menu's recent introduction, there was a noticeable delay in service, with food taking about 45 minutes to arrive. I was also slightly disappointed that the banana frittata wasn't available, but the alternative options provided were satisfactory.
On a positive note, the service in the lounge was exemplary. The waitress was not only attentive but also exuded a friendly demeanor that enhanced the overall experience.
The lounge itself boasts a spacious and airy ambiance, complemented by a delightful view of the tarmac, making for a relaxing environment before a flight.
Despite some minor culinary hiccups, I can highly recommend the United Polaris Lounge to those who have access. It's a comfortable space with commendable service, ideal for travelers seeking a serene spot to unwind before...
Read moreHad a flight from LAX to Dubai connecting in Newark. Flight was around 1pm so was at lounge a little before noon. Having been at the Polaris lounge in SFO this was beyond disappointing! I recognize I didn’t leave myself with plenty of time before departure but the buffet was the quality of a Lufthansa or KLM lounge at best. Basic cheese, crackers and some very basic snacks. Initially they only had a veggie wrap then I found out these is a beef wrap that I waited for a while and it was dry tbh. Inquired about the a la cart section and gentleman (who seemed beyond grumpy) said it was “26 minutes” (I remember that bc I remember thinking not 25 but 26 minutes wait, that’s accuracy). I didn’t have the time to wait so was stuck with this extremely disappointing buffet. In comparison I was at the United lounge in Newark on the way back it was far better.
It wasn’t busy either which makes me wonder why it needed 26 minutes but all and all the attitude of staff I connected with along with the buffet was surprising. SFO Polaris was 10...
Read moreNice lounge exclusive when flying in business or first class on a United or ANA flight. Cannot be used for premium domestic flights, premium economy, and does not allow guests or passes. These restrictions help control the crowds. If you are in any of those categories, there's a United lounge a few minutes away towards the gates. Since this is an international terminal, I noticed the regular lounge was much less crowded. I visited both and both were pretty similar. Main difference being the shower facilities.
As far as the chairs, food, drinks, power plugs, I didn't notice any major difference between the two. At most, maybe a few more food options, but main dishes were the same.
Overall, great lounge with many sitting areas that were spaced out. The back area behind the escalators was much less crowded with additional restrooms. Grab your food and drinks and head past the escalators if it's crowded in...
