I highly recommend Dr. Yosef Nasseri. I had an ileocolic resection to remove the strictures caused by my Crohn's disease. I had consultations with three surgeons and I chose Dr. Nasseri because he was the most caring, knowledgable, and conservative in his approach to the surgery. Dr. Nasseri went over the procedure in detail and patiently listened to and answered every single one of my questions. Dr. Nasseri also uses robotic assisted surgery which studies have shown leads to a quicker recovery than laparoscopic surgery. His staff was extremely helpful with the pre-surgery paperwork, insurance, and tests. Dr. Nasseri showed up everyday at the hospital to check in with me during my recovery. As a result of my surgery I had ileus, 1 out of 5 colon surgery patients will get this after surgery, which means my bowel was still in shock after surgery and wasn't functioning properly. It took three days after my surgery for my bowels to start functioning properly and when they finally did on Saturday evening, Dr. Nasseri came to check on me personally. When he entered my room I asked him what he was doing here on a Saturday night and he answered with glee, "I heard the good news and had to come see for my self". I then found out from the nursing staff at Cedars-Sinai that Dr. Naasseri asks them to report everything that happens with me during my stay directly to him. To say that this man cares about his patients is an understatement. When the pathology came back after my surgery, the pathologist found stage 1 ileal adenocarcinoma. When doing surgery to remove cancer from your colon, you have to have a certain amount of margins between the diseased and the non-diseased portion of your colon, and you have to take a certain amount of lymph node samples in order to be considered negative for carcinoma after the removal of the tumor. Dr. Nasseri did not know I had cancer in my ileum before preforming the surgery, but because of his conservative approach, he cleared the required distance of margins and the amount of lymph node samples required to be considered negative for carcinoma. If he didn't do that, he would've had to go back inside me to clear the required margins and to get more lymph node samples. My recovery, follow up visits, and cancer surveillance with Dr. Nasseri have been met with the same caring, knowledge, and conservative approach he had with my surgery. This was the first time I have ever had surgery, and to say that I was unnerved and anxious is an understatement. Dr. Nasseri made this experience palatable and allowed me to go into with a calm and positive attitude. His staff have also been a pleasure to deal with post surgery. They take the time to answer any of my questions, communicate any concerns to Dr. Nasseri and return with answers for me, and help with insurance and any blood work with smiles on their faces when I am in the office and calm respectful voices on the phone. If you want a surgeon who will listen to and care about you before, during, and after your surgery, Dr. Nasseri is the one for you. Five stars is not enough to express how grateful I am to him and his staff. Shout out to Mayra and Marie in his office for all their help...
Read moreI came to Dr. Nasseri's office because I've been dealing with a pilonidal cyst since 2024 and though I had surgery from a general surgeon, the cyst came back during my recovery. The pain I was going through with the cyst, let alone post-op from the 1st surgery was some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was told to take tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain and wasn't looked after to ensure not just the cyst but the infection was taken care of. I'd been dealing with pilonidal sinuses for 11 years but nothing couldn't prepared me for how much my life would change, how no matter what I did a cyst could develop, I wouldn't be able to sit, lay down properly and I would develop poor circulation because of my body doing everything it could to avoid being in pain but sitting sideways, standing most of the day, and losing sleep. When I came to Dr. Nasseri I was at my limit not just with my body because there seemed to be no fix and nothing I could do helped, but because of the pain I was dealt with after that first surgery I never wanted to go through that again. With Dr. Nasseri, I didn't. He cared, he was the perfect and most talented surgeon and human being I've ever met and there's a reason why he's the best. He gave me my life back. He walked me through what was wrong, the game plan of where to go from here, and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. He took me in and I had the surgery fairly quickly with him and he took out the entire infection and cyst. I met with him weekly to ensure I was healing, the incision looked great and I was comfortable again. Post operation, Dr. Nasseri stayed vigilant, strong, and gave me hope every step of the way. He was honest and treated me with care, intention, and gave me hope. Today I had my visit to see the area and I'm healed. Not only am I healed but I'm a new version of myself. One where I can sit down, lay back, stretch out, play sports, watching movies, enjoy rides in the car, enjoy my instruments, and be active in my life and my loved ones'. I'll never be able to express my full appreciation for Dr. Nasseri and his time nor will I ever be able to thank them enough. They've given me my life back - once more they've given me freedom to live that life again. 11 years with 3 pilonidal sinuses and nearly 1 year with the chronic pilonidal cyst and today. I have neither and am healed from surgery. Thank you everyone at the Pilonidal Institute, but ESPECIALLY Dr. Nasseri. You've given me a life I didn't think I'd...
Read moreSimply put, Dr. Nasseri is one of the best physicians I have ever met or been treated by. I wanted to hold off writing this review until I was no longer under his care, so that I could give a complete picture of the whole process from beginning to end. I am grateful to him for handling my case over the course of about a year and a half, with great care, expertise and compassion.
Initially concerned that Dr. Nasseri was out of network and that his prices were out of my range, his staff member, Mayra, conveyed that Dr. Nasseri would be willing to negotiate and honor my in-network prices. This kindness allowed me to see him and focus on healing, without the added obstacle of cost. Throughout the whole process of two surgeries and about 16 months of minor in-office procedures, the office staff was always friendly and professional. I am grateful to them as well as Dr. Nasseri for making this experience not only tolerable, but occasionally enjoyable as we all got to know each other.
Unfortunately, my case was more complex than could be handled with a single surgery, and Dr. Nasseri chose to take a slower, but more sure approach to ensure that my condition would not return. I continued to see him for monthly check-ups and minor office procedures to adjust the medical devices that were in place. This longer process required patience on my part, but it was well worth the wait. A second surgery was undertaken after a few months, to further direct the body’s healing processes. This slow and deliberate approach was ultimately successful. About a year and a half after the initial surgery, the process was done. At this point now, a couple of months after having received my last checkup and perfect bill of health from Dr. Nasseri, I still have not experienced any relapses or diminishment of my health. I would consider this a tremendous success.
Dr. Nasseri was always kind and compassionate, with the bedside manner of a charming and entertaining friend. He always alerted me when something uncomfortable would be undertaken, giving me sufficient warning to prepare myself, and enough information to understand what he was doing. I appreciated this very much.
All things considered, I was glad to have met and worked with Dr. Nasseri. If one were to have need of surgery in such a delicate and vulnerable region, it is Dr. Nasseri that one wants in charge. I actually miss going to visit him! Thank you, Dr. Nasseri for all your kindness and gentle,...
