My family and I visited this store sometime last week. We initially took notice of who I believed to be the "owner/manager" of the store. He kind of lingered in places watching the people, which seed odd, but whatever. At some point my husband went to the front to ask a question on an item and the same individual made some nasty remark to him and he was over it. In the end, we actually eneded up putting the couple thing we had to picked out back in the bins because my sister had momentarily sit down on a chair to adjust her sleeping baby and yet again, the same individual snapped at her saying she couldn't sit there. Which was fine, but I would like to point out the tone it was said in was horrible, and I don't believe there to be anything posted that said otherwise. Again, if it's the rule thats fine but the approach was uncalled for. So we left..
My sister and I decided to give it another chance on a cheaper day later in the week, and unfortunately, the same individual was there. We did our digging and proceeded to check out at the front. My cart was right at the cashier along with my sister who was paying for her items. I started to walk back to the bin to put an item back that I changed my mind on, and I watched this "owner/manager" approach my cart and start digging threw my items. I told him "excuse me, that's my cart" as I made my way back. He responded back to me "this item is $30 dollars" gesturing to a boxed shelf I had in my cart. Mind you, I think he singled out the one of two boxes in my cart, because it was a complete set compaired to many of the other boxes that are broken apart that leads to a scavenge hunt to find all the pieces. Id even like to point out, he had to have been paying enough attention to me to notice the undamaged box inside of the other broken box holding something else in my cart. I told him, I found it in the $3 dollar bin, and he proceeded to inform me it was in the wrong place or someone moved it there. Mind you, the whole area where the higher ticket items are kept, was completely closed off with rope that said "CLOSED" so it came off as an accusation versus simply informing. I responded by telling him I didn't want it and he then attempted to reach into my cart and remove the item, to which I was already grabbing to remove myself. After a bit of a scuffle over removing the item, I said "I can get it out, I don't need you digging in my cart" he says "NO ill do it" and I told him "move so I don't hit you with it" and got the item out and set it off to the side. He then proceeded to walk away like nothing happened. My husband later told me I shouldn't have bought anything and just left when this happened, but i really wanted the couple things I had.
At this point will NOT be going back there, and will be informing friends and family to do the same. It's like that saying "one bad apple ruins a dozen" and this "owner/manager" can potentially be the down fall to this store. If you ask me, the best position for him is one behind a door not working with the public. After having read other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one that has had a not so great run in with this individual, and it's really unfortunate to say the least. This place allows false advertisement, and instead of owning up to their mistake, chooses to pick fights with customers and comes off accusatory over their screw ups. It isn't a comfortable shopping experience being scowled by the "owner" as you...
Read moreI 100% recommend coming on $1.97 morning, The deals don't really matter... they're hit or miss anyway. But do come watch the show. The people that line up here on $1.97 day before it opens are comically ridiculous. There will only be maybe 10 people waiting for the doors to open... but these ladies are already angry, raring and ready to shove you and crowd you out of their way. ... Hey, like, I can only go as fast as the person in front of me! Get your breath off my neck, weirdo! And your .03 second advantage you might get from shoving people into the door faster isn't going to get you that $1.97 birdhouse any cheaper. You're still 7th in line, honey. Calm down. You're still paying $1.97 for it. You're just paying it .03 seconds sooner. 🤣 Once you're inside, get ready to be pushed, blocked, shoved, and hear lots of annoyed grunting and groaning, should you happen to be standing in the exact spot one of these ladies wants to be in. Make sure to grab what you want from the bin before you politely move out of her way, because as soon as you do... bam! Her cart, or bag, or whatever thing of girth or substance she has available, will be used to block that aisle from anyone else perusing her claimed section. And she'll leave it there, blocking her territory, while she shoves around the store, rooting through bins and lightly assaulting the other people trying to do the same thing. And don't you dare try and move it, or you'll be met with the dreaded grunt.
It's a little bit of a madhouse. And, notably, I don't think I've ever seen anyone smile here. (Except me... I'm that weirdo, gleefully perusing bins and angering grumps with my mirth.) I do wish more people showed up, I'd be there every week. But as it is, there's only 10 or 15 that show up to fight the good fight for $1.97 prizes. So I go sometimes to check in on deals. It is hit or miss, some things are worth less than $1.97 (e.g. some $0.50 Target plastic plates), and some is worth far more (e.g. I've seen exercise equipment being sold on Amazon for over $70). So you can score, or you can kind of get ripped off. The other side of the store has a $5 table that I've bought hair and skin care products worth upwards of $100 each, for $5. But they don't always have the stuff I use or want. So shopping here is more like a fun little game than trying to get consistent deals. But it's always fun, and always an...
Read moreI went to the store after seeing a lot of negative reviews. I went in to look with the understanding that products I may find inside may not be complete. I was fine with that. While inside, I started by perusing the outside perimeter where they keep appliances and large items. My experience is there mirror what a lot of other reviews say in that I can find new in box, updated versions of many of the products featured here. That's not why I'm writing this review.
After sifting through their bins for several minutes, and seeing many, many items in various states of disrepair, I found an item that looked to be in a state where I could fix it and have a serviceable product. After taking the item to the front, I was informed that this item is not for sale, as it's not a bin item. Every single shelved item has a price sharpied onto its surface. This item lacked any such markings, and was in the bin. But seeing that someone found something useful in their bin, they didn't want to sell it for five bucks. They will exploit you, the consumer in order to solicit your free labor in picking the gems from the chaff. They will then take those items and attempt to sell them to you at a higher price, or deny you the ability to purchase them in the first place.
I cannot recommend anyone to shop here. Find a local thrift store that actually values...
