I found myself today, for the first time in 25 years, needing to use a laundromat. I hadn’t eaten yet and was starting to get shaky. I went outside and looked down the sidewalk and noticed a Starbucks sign next to Fred Meyer. I decided to get a breakfast sandwich, but learned Starbucks was closed for Labor Day. Back to the sidewalk and considered my options. I saw the Gyro Grill sign and thought, “I haven’t had Greek food since I lived in NYC 20 years ago, why not?” I know very little about Greek fare and my knowledge stops at baklava and hummus. I walked in and the place was spotless, nearly every table was full and everyone looked happy. The man (I’m assuming the owner) was so friendly and told me which items were most popular. He even tried to dissuade me from tipping when I paid (sweetheart! I tipped anyway). I went with the veggie wrap/gyro and was prepared to not love it. I took it back to my car, opened it up, and after one bite my TOES curled. Good LORD this falafel is HEAVENLY. The veg is so crisp and fresh! The eggplant is to DIE for. I’m not culinary enough to describe everything in this gyro but suffice to say I haven’t truly enjoyed a meal in a long long time. This is one of the most delicious meals I’ve had in many many years. Chefs kiss to Gyro Grill! I even had to go back in and tell him how much I loved it!...
Read moreI can’t say much about Greek food as it’s not exactly been part of my diet in my life. There were a few times where I’ve tried gyros just cause I was at an event that had them and I was particularly wowed.
However, I have never left a review about any restaurant ever but because of the food I just ate, I felt entirely compelled to leave a review in hopes that this would compel anyone reading this to give this restaurant your business.
I got a lamb Gyro plate (20a) and paid $17 for it. As a broke college student, I can say without hesitation or reservation, that this was worth every Penny. $17 is HIGHWAY ROBBERY against the RESTAURANT. My metabolism is unending and my appetite can never be quenched. My to go box, however, was chock full of the most delicious rice, salad, hummus, and MEAT. $17 is a crime and I would easily pay $30 for this again.
Not only that, I don’t even live here, but I would drive an hour through traffic just to pay for this.
I didn’t even finish my food cause I felt so compelled to leave a shining review. As I conclude, however, it needs to be reiterated that eating this was completely worth it and I’m glad I came here on a whim and I hope to have convinced you to come as well. This is joining the clean plate...
Read moreI think I found the one.
I usually get groceries at the Fred Meyers in Lynwood, next to which this restaurant is located. I also saw some good reviews online and decided to give it a shot. Right away, this place reminded me of the old Mediterranean grills I used to frequent as a kid. Small shop with a couple tables and a counter with various regional drinks on display.
Ordering was easy, as the menu was uncomplicated and easy to follow. I always gravitate to the incredibly non-traditional gyro fries (as a certified big-back), and my order was ready within 5-10 minutes. The staff were friendly and I took my order to-go.
While I initially noticed the heft of my bag as I walked back to the car, it wasn’t until I got home that I realized that stuffed into the takeaway box was a LITERAL feast. I’m big, admittedly, but I had to tap out after around 50% of the order ($13 btw).
The quality of the food was also amazing. They definitely do not skimp on the meat, and the feta cheese added much needed tartness to the dish.
Overall, I am more than satisfied with my order and I will be coming back again and I now understand why the reviews for this place are so good.
5/5 will be returning...
