Solhawk is a charming studio that's calm, spacious and clean; nestled in the quaint town of Lyons, Co just outside of the Rocky Mountains.

I flew into Salt Lake City, Utah from Maine and made a road trip to the studio to work with Lydia. We began our tattooing journey together when she started in Maine, I have since followed her to Asheville, NC and now to Colorado.

Lydia's style is one of a kind; providing a space of trust where we discuss an idea but she runs with the vision. Her style is very intuitive and unique and honestly, a vulnerable share from her inner being as an artist. I have always trusted her creative genius and have always left our sessions together in awe at her ability to transmute an idea into potent medicine, presence and space holding. I find the environment she creates to be far beyond receiving a permanent piece of art but also a space for deep nurturing and healing. I am forever astonished by her creations and her deep reverence for self expression through physical alteration.

My favorite part about working with Lydia is her authentic expression through art form and knowing that whatever comes from her flow will be the perfect piece for me. I now have 5 pieces from her (one of them being a large scale full leg sleeve in the works) and already have future plans for working together.

Honestly, I could go on forever about all the incredible attributes of this place but you should figure it out...

I've made the journey from Denver to Solhawk on three occasions, each time working with Lydia. As I walk through the door, I'm always welcomed by the smell of sage, soft white lighting, and carefully selected decor that prepare me for the ritual of getting tattooed. The studio area is exceptionally clean and tidy. The space is open such that artists and clients can chat with one another, and foldable wooden screens can be arranged to create privacy if requested.

Lydia is both patient and focused. She is at once a perfectionist who frets the smallest detail, and a pragmatist who understands the limitations of what she can complete in a session. In terms of receiving creative input/feedback, I have found Lydia to be extremely open! We make sure to intentionally align on larger conceptual or aesthetic decisions over email in the weeks prior to the session (this is critical). As a result, if we make any adjustments on the day of the session, they are small in scope and easy to incorporate.

Solhawk is where you want to get tattooed. If you are looking for the right shop, look no further. The shop itself is immediately inviting and soothing. Located in Lyons historic bank building, you know you have arrived in a detail oriented professional space as soon as you walk in the door. You can’t go wrong getting tattooed by any of the artists here, they are all masters of their craft. I was tattooed by Lydia, she was patient welcoming, gentle and obviously dedicated to providing her clients with beautiful unique and personalized art. It’s no wonder her books fill up so fast. I have been tattooed in many different places by lots of different artists and this was with out a doubt the most positive experience I have ever had.
