I rarely give reviews. Only if the entity is particularly good or bad do I take the time. I’m a long time lyons resident and I’m always hoping for local businesses to do well since that benefits both the business and those of us who live here. So I was excited back when Moxie opened. After giving them a few months after opening at the original location to work out the kinks I went in in the early afternoon. It wasn’t busy and I was one of one or two other potential customers in the store. Staff were busily working away behind the counter. I stood at the counter for ten uncomfortable minutes waiting for someone to notice me let alone ask if I wanted to order. In that entire time not one of the staff gave me eye contact or otherwise gave any indication I was there. For me that kind of thing makes me never want to go back to a place so I didn’t for a few years. Fast forward to today and I thought I’ll give them another try. They have been in the new location for a while and I see lots of people there when I drive by during open hours. The good… very nice decor, I was greeted immediately, several people seemed to be enjoying their time there. The bad… a 16oz latte was $6 w/out tip, latte was lukewarm (blech) and they had no breakfast sandwiches. Actually no food with bread since apparently that doesn’t arrive until after 8:30am daily (that’s what the staff tools me) which to me seems strange since 8:30am isn’t very early for many people. Long story to say I won’t be going back. My advice…. Go to the mud hut on the east edge of town. A latte is cheaper, it’s always piping hot, you don’t have to get out, and they are always fast,...
Read moreI'm not a fan of bad reviews, so I'll keep from leaving 1 star. I've been to this spot many times in the past, but when it was under a different name. I'll start with the good- The place has a really comfortable sitting area where you can hang out and enjoy your drink & food. While we were there, we saw several people on their laptops. They have pastries, bread, and drinks. They sell coffee by the bag, which is convenient if you're wanting your coffee at home or elsewhere. The store also has different types of swag for you to buy. On to the bad- That would start as soon as we tried to order a coffee. Not a real difficult order. The staff stared at us as if were weren't even speaking, and after we stated what we wanted one more time, one of the employees said that he couldn't hear us. 3 feet away and we repeated the order again. We sat down to wait for our coffees. That turned into a 10 minute deal. I guess we were expecting someone to tell us that our coffees were ready, but we were mistaken. They sat on the end of the counter for upwards of 5 minutes. My mistake for not checking. Finally, the young man that couldn't hear our order earlier came out and basically whispered "Do you want your coffee? It's been at the counter for a while."
Hopefully, they were just having an off day. For the sake of other customers, I really hope that was the case. Strange vibe. As I said earlier in the review, really comfy sitting area. They also have a lot of outdoor seating, for when the...
