Luchador Tequila & Taco Bar — Restaurant in Madison

Denied service to my out of state friend (who is almost 22) after barely checking her REAL ID, we asked for a manager to which one came out and refused to look at it or give an opinion. After we asked them to call the non emergency police and have her ID checked/run through the system, they refused to call- claiming that they thought I was. After sitting down, we waited for them to serve the rest of us as NO ONE had told us to leave, we were under the impression that we could still order food or other items…the manager came back out with an extremely bad attitude and told us that we were trespassing! I would have appreciated better communication, alleviation of the situation, and two employees that did not have temper tantrums, storming away from the table when we asked for more information- considering we were all sober and of legal drinking age. We normally have good experiences here, but this changed our minds…if I could give 0 stars I would. This place was an interesting place to go for a late lunch that's for sure. The happy hour margaritas here hit hard but that's okay. I call this BPD (booze per dollar), those sweet hangover inducing drinks are like $4-5 each!

The tacos on the other hand were quite odd and maybe not my favorite. This could be my fault, I should've ordered something like a quesadilla, but I was highly encouraged to get the tacos! The tacos we're comically large for street tacos and packed so full of random ingredients it practically became a taco bowl. I think the tacos would be a little better if they didn't drown them in whatever sauce they have on hand. I would also steer clear of the fusion tacos like the Tikka masala. I got the House Watermelon margarita and Vegetarian Buffalo Cauliflower taco with ranch and blue cheese. All on special during ‘Maxwell Street Days.’

I’m not even kidding [seriously, not] when I say that I teared up when I bit into the Buffalo Cauliflower taco! It’s like one of THE best vegetarian food items I’ve ever even had in my LIFE!

Watermelon house margarita is to die for.

Atmosphere is hip and classy, darkened lighting but with windows so it’s just the right setting.

You get to “pick your vibe” if you sit in a booth by picking which piece of art you sit under. We picked the “Day of the Dead” skeleton with red roses!

Our server was attentive and sweet!
