Stayed for two nights. Booked through Hotel Tonight app, which didn't give an option to choose room type. I ended up in a two double/queen room as a single occupant. Possibly could have changed, but I didn't asked since I was content enough.
They bill themselves as a niche dorm style experience and I would tend to agree, minus the benefit of not having to walk down the hall for a shared restroom. However the bathroom in the room was small, no tub, standing shower. Toilet right up next to the sliding glass shower stall, but as a bigger guy I was still able to manage, so there is that.
Bed was comfortable, no complaints there.
The wifi works well, but it's based on logging in via a web browser so it may cause an issue if you're bringing along an old Roku like I did. TV had a Charter cable package with about 50 channels including some HBO channels. Little cumbersome Charter based guide function, think slow to load, though.
I did go up to the restaurant on the 7th floor. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and cheese curds. It was a little expensive considering they're ala carte. Overall nice theme though. Plenty of games on the tables in the dining area. They did have the fire pits going, but it was in the single digits so I didn't wander out.
Parking is $20 a night for valet parking without an option to self park. I was able to snag a spot on the street able a block away and was able to stay the whole time due to a city holiday. Just make sure you you're aware of the parking rules.
Overall, it was a decent hotel stay and would generally...
Read moreThis place is not worth the price point. The a/c unit in the room does not function properly. It was 81 degrees in our room with the thermostat set at 64. No one can sleep in those conditions. No one. When we checked out with the indifferent college student (the same one who snottily checked us in with a chip on her shoulder) we were told the hotel has a one flip heating cooling system and we were told since it got a little cold outside it was switched to heat but we still had some control over our room temperature. I’m here to say you do not have any control over the temp. 81 degrees is unacceptable. We were also advised we could have opened our windows. It is in an urban area and you could already hear everything that was going on outside (a party) due to the poor insulation. I know there wasn’t anything the front desk staff could have done on checkout but some sense of empathy/kindness/I’m so sorry about that would have been nice instead of saying you can call back for a manager later this week because one isn’t scheduled at all today would have been nice. We had to ask for her to leave a note and ask for someone to contact us. I’m sure that note will probably get lost if even conveyed to anyone. She had the attitude that we should have been grateful that she was there to man the front desk. Overall for over $300 a night accommodations/service were not worth what we paid and at the price point there are many other options in Madison. I suggest trying any other...
Read moreDo not stay here for graduation. The location of the hotel is in the middle of multiple apartment buildings so you cannot easily get to the hotel because of student's cars parked all over trying to load up their stuff. The hotel has no parking so it's just expensive valet parking. We actually parked in a parking garage because it was a third of the price. It was such an ordeal getting to and from the hotel by car because of all the moving traffic- we were glad to park in a garage a couple blocks away and walk- it made it easier to get to the hotel. The hotel has NO amenities at all. Three nights was over $3K and not even a free coffee in the lobby. Someone reserved the upstairs bar so we couldn't even use it. Also, the street it is on is one of the only pathways from State street bars to the Greek life. So bar time was EXTREMELY noisy and we were woken up by the foot traffic and loud students even though we were on the fourth floor. We prepaid for our room but were then charged when we checked out- so $6K for 3 nights- still trying to work with management to get our refund- somehow they cannot find records of prepayment even though I have a receipt from them. Save you money at graduation and stay somewhere else... not worth...
