The store has a great selection at great prices. I haven't been to the store for a couple of months and decided to stop in and get some things today and I don't remember the employees being so rude. Husband picked a multi-pack of towels off of the shelf and asked me if we were going to get towels while we were there and I told him "no", so naturally he set the, previously disheveled pack of towels on top of the other disheveled towels, which was exactly where he found them. There was a woman (not sure if she worked there or if she was just helping her daughter) saw fit to rudely say "EXUUUUSE ME!! This IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THREEEE TOWELS IN IT!!" Like I said, It was disheveled when he picked it up, as is most of the other things on that aisle and it's because of other people just tossing the stuff back on the shelf without folding it, so that is not the employees fault, nor is it an issue , but it leads me to the next rude comment from the employees mother...or maybe the mother works there???? Still a little confused about that....but anyways, she rudely said "MY DAUGHTER has to FOLD THESE!!!!" as she snatched more towels off of the shelf and he just looked at her like, O-kaaay.....and her and her daughter (again, not sure which one is actually an employee or why a non-employee is allowed to berate customers about what other customers have been doing, but sure...) her and her daughter started snickering and giggling about it and we just decided to continue shopping and let it go. As we were shopping, we could hear them making fun of other customers (loudly) and giggling like children about it and one lady actually left because of it. She should not be allowed to behave like work is a high-schools hallway and if her mother is not an employee, she should not be in there with her daughter if that is the way they are going to behave together and if the mother IS an employee then they should be in separate areas of the store (in the same way you would separate children that will not behave in a classroom). Their behavior is rude and childish to the point where I, as well as the other customer can hear them and one woman got tired of being made fun of and she actually parked her basket and items and walked out. I understand that she is tired of folding towels but to scold the wrong person for it, just because you're feeling a certain type of way for it is just far beyond unprofessional and I'm not sure that she is supposed to be smarting off to customers anyways, but that's just me and how it is everywhere I've ever worked but Ollie's may have different policies regarding conduct. To each their own but it will be a...
Read moreAs a regular customer, I have always appreciated the value and variety offered at Ollie’s, but this incident was disappointing and concerning. I noticed an aisle blocked off with shopping carts and signs stating “Do Not Enter.” Needing assistance, I approached an employee and asked if she was the manager. She denied being the manager and claimed she was “just helping out.” However, I later found out from another staff member that she is, in fact, the store manager. This false statement made it clear that she was avoiding helping customers and did not want to be bothered. Her demeanor was negative, unfriendly, unwelcoming and outright rude.
When I asked if she could help me grab an item from the closed aisle, she curtly told me, “No, it’s closed, and no one is allowed to get anything from there—it will not be open again.” While I understand and respect the policy, her tone and approach were unnecessarily dismissive and lacked any courtesy or consideration. A more polite explanation would have been greatly appreciated.
As a loyal customer, I would hate for this kind of interaction to affect my shopping experience or anyone else’s. I strongly believe that a manager should set a positive example for their team and ensure customers feel valued and respected. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit.
Customers deserve courteous and professional service at all times, especially from someone in a...
Read moreMy previous rant was about 'Hot Buys' next to Ollies!! Sorry, Ollie! But, just so it is clear: THE 'HOT BUYS' NEXT TO OLLIE'S: Just to let you know, this guy does his sales all by himself. Probably because he KNOWS most people are keen on the fact that his furniture pieces are ALL MARKED UP 200% of cost, or more! PLEASE be smart and realize right off-the-bat that the 30%-70% OFF GIMMICK is a complete LIE. I don't EVER post bad experiences, unless they REALLY warrant it. THIS GUY will try to push a $149 delivery fee without professional delivery truck, or people!! When I refused, and arrived at the "Warehouse;" which was a rental Storage Unit😳, I really was appalled. Frankly, I was afraid I got scammed because of this, but more so because his "delivery man" was one lone worker, who DID NOT want to be there, could hardly speak a lick of English, and did not offer to help load a DAMAGED box, did NOT have a moving dolly or equipment of ANY type, and even rushed us as we were securing our load!!! I came VERY close......so, DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! Final note: THE BOX WAS DELIVERED TO HIS WAREHOUSE FROM ASHLEY FURNITURE!! HE got my Labor Day discount, while I got a NO WARRANTY, NO RETURN, AS-IS, MARKED-UP piece of furniture. My ONLY consolation is that everything was there and assembled in good, new, working condition. Thank you ASHLEY...
