This review is related to their skate sharpening service. I know they are convenient and cheap, but DO NOT take your ice skates to them for sharpening. They get 2 stars instead of one because: a. The employees were polite and honest. b. They told me that their machine messed up my skates and they recommended that I take them to a specialist to get them fixed. c. They did not charge me for their attempt at sharpening which resulted in my skates being messed up. But they messed up my skates. I took them to an expert at the ice rink who literally gasped and said "oh my God" when he saw them. If you are looking to buy sports equipment from PIAS, please ignore this review. I cannot speak to that aspect of the business. But if you are thinking of getting your ice skates sharpened, STAY AWAY. Take them to your local ice rink and ask for their advice. After this experience, I honestly don't think PIAS should even offer skate sharpening...
Read moreI grew up in a little town that had a new/used sporting goods store, and it was my favorite place to go. As I got older I assumed that this type of establishment was all but eaten up until I found myself in the shoes of a father, looking for equipment with his children. The smells immediately took me back to, as my kid say, the 1900s. The excellent customer service was just as reminiscent. I love having Play It Again Sports right around the corner from my house. Sharing the types of memories that were a staple in my youth with my children is...
Read moreGreat selection and they pay OK prices for your stuff if it is something they want, but their prices, at least on used hockey gear, are very expensive. A good part of their used equipment is priced higher than new. Only the stuff in the worst condition get any sort of discount. I sold them some hockey pants I bought brand new three years prior for $45 and I see them later in the store for $50. I have seen used goalie sets there priced higher than goalie monkey prices them brand new. I love play it again for hockey, but this one has the worst deals I have seen. Make sure you are aware of the value of anything you buy here and be sure to haggle on anything used.
The staff are very friendly however and all the sharpening and other services I have got here have...
