5 stars for discrimination. I am a female veteran denied services at an American legion because I would not produce documents to prove my animal was a legitimate service animal. The federal law protects people with disabilities to a fine , detailed description of what a proprietor may ask a person regarding their service animal. The old guy working broke federal law by refusing me sefvice for not producing paperwork which I am supposedly protected against such discrimination. You see the violation is this: I walked into the American legion with a service animal, The bartender sized me up and decided himself that I don’t need a service animal so I better prove it. Would he have made the same demands of a veteran walking in with a white cane with a red tip? No he would not have. He would have served the blind guy. No questions asked. He felt quite proud of himself kicking me and my advice animal out. He showed me didn’t he. The national office will hear about this. EDUCATE YOUR EMPLOYEES ABOUT THE LAW AND...
Read moreRead moreMy wife and I visited the American Legion in Marathon, FL 12/9/21 around 6PM, hoping to have dinner. We were surprised to find that they allow smoking. We stood just inside the door and looked around for about a full minute. Then we walked to the far side of the long bar to look for tables. A few people turned and looked at us, but didn't really acknowledge us. I joined the American Legion in Colorado after I retired. I had my Air Force hat on, so there was no doubt that I was a Veteran. After standing in the back for about another 2 minutes without being acknowledged, we decided we were not welcome, so walked back to the front door and left. I have been to AL posts all across the US and have never been treated like that. I guess 20+ years of service and being a faithful member for 10 years didn't matter to this post. I would recommend the VFW in Key West. At least there I was treated like they wanted me...
It is a nice place where you can have a low cost breakfast on Sunday morning between 9 to 11. We went there my girlfriend and I had the omelet and she had the French toast and both were really good for a very low price of eight dollars each there is a total of five choices for the breakfast and they are all very good. The service is also excellent!
The only thing I would say is less interesting is that people can smoke in the bar during the time that your breakfast there,,,so this affected us negatively during the time that we were eating,, and a bit my rating here if not, I would’ve...
