Karen's Hallmark Shop — Local services in Mayfield Heights

This store looks amazing! I went in there yesterday, May 2nd, 2024 and all my senses were enlightened! I love cards and I prefer to shop at Hallmark because of the array of selection. I frequent here on special occasions throughout the year and I can always find what I’m looking for. I am seeing this store is finally getting back to how the old store used to be. The shelves and merchandise is more fuller like I was used to seeing it years ago before the other store closed (Kirlin’s Hallmark). I was sad then and when this Karen’s Hallmark opened I was so happy again! It took some time but I see a huge difference in how it looks currently compared to when it first opened. I never gave up on them. Patience is a virtue. I walked in and was completely content and amazed at how everything was so neat as always and full! It smelled so good in there too! I was greeted with smiles and had a nice conversation upon checking out. When I tell you all my senses were satisfied they were—-my sight, smell, hearing and touch/feel! I wanted to shop local and needed two cards: a birthday card and a father's day card. I chose a Hallmark store since these two cards were important and I needed them immediately. (Even though it's July, I missed father's day and had to get a card asap!) I walked in and two women were there, but neither greeted me. I was surprised that for a Hallmark store, there were only 4 aisles of cards. Literally less than 40% of the store. Another customer walked in after me and was greeted. I over heard them, and the women offered to show the customer where the item in question was. While she was back by me (still looking for the father's day cards) I asked her where they were. She laughed at me! And said, "it's not even mothers day. " After she stared at me for a second and realized I was not joking, she said "I don't have room for that" and walked away. I went into this location, as I visit this store at least twice a month. Usually, I am greeted when I come in and the service is quick and the employees are always helpful and friendly. However, today's visit was rather disappointing but very telling. When I walked in, the cashier looked me dead in my face and didn't open her mouth, but instead frowned and looked away. (I have never seen this cashier before). I continued about my visit and picked up my cards. As I was waiting in line to be checked out, several "other" people entered and were greeted along with a smile. I thought to myself, hmmmm., what made me different that I did not warrant the same behavior? Then a light bulb went off. I politely placed my cards on the counter and walked out.
