I have found many great items at this store, but every time I go I am shocked at the loud Christian music I am forced to listen to. At times I have even considered ear plugs while shopping here. The lack of Covid-19 precautions is also off-putting. Many employees without masks or social distancing. The response to my review from the owner is even better than my honest review. At no time did I discriminate based off Christian music. I am not religious and have the freedom from religious persecution just as those who believe do, so loudly forcing customers to listen to your beliefs via the loud speakers playing loud Christian music is what I referenced. American Mercantile is fun, eclectic and enjoyable. The owners are positive people who also say-it-like-it-is. We are living in strange times and this place feels like a reprieve. Where you can come find something fun for your home (let’s be real, staying at home and staring at the same stuff for months on end breathes a desire for something new!), meet kind people who actually care about YOU (not just whether your face is covered) and have fun listening to positive music. I personally have trauma from face coverings and I can’t really go anywhere. These people treat me like a human and respect that each individual has a different story and might need something different than the mandate forces. The stars are for the merchandise only. This store loses 2 stars because: The staff and many of the patrons ignore the covid mask mandate. I really "liked" -past tense, liked the shop, and,-the layout of the shop, and the selection of new and vintage items. I have spent over $1,200.00 here this past year. NEVER AGAIN! I will not give my money over to a collective of people who defiantly ignore the mask mandate. I have brought this issue up several times. This shop doesn't care about covid.
