Really bizarre experiences both of the times I've interacted with the Ram. While the food & beer have been great both times, I honestly think they just don't care about customer service. I don't think any of the front line employees are not trying either, the impression is that they don't believe that they NEED to serve folks well. Think assembly line, rather than place to hang out and have a beer.
The first time I went in they were super busy, it was opening weekend. I fully expected to be waiting a while. I completely was prepared for slower service. What I experienced was something entirely different.
The employees at the front door were obviously annoyed that we chose to wait for our table, rather than take advantage of the text service. We sat there for over an hour (which we were totally fine with, we expected it) until someone asked us if we wanted to sit in the bar where there was open seating... If they would have told us that when we checked in, we would have saved a whole hour... It was only the two of us, c'mon man!
Then we sat down to eat... It took more than a half hour for our server to remember that she forgot our beers, another half hour for her to remember that she forgot them again, and another fifteen minutes for them to finally arrive (well after our food). This alone would have been no big deal, new place, new employees, new everything and really busy. Stuff happens. I get it. It's not like I'm the kind of dude that's gonna get on the internet and write about it or anything. I'm sure they'll make it right... right? Wrong... Rather, during every single one of our interactions, our server tried to laugh off the delay(s) by blaming "they". "Did they forget your beer again? haha!" "Did they not bring your drinks by? haha!" By the time I was done drinking my beer, and eating my burger (both of which were wonderful, btw) I was pretty upset.
I figured she had to know, and would make some attempt to make it right. I'm thinking to myself "I'll at LEAST get one of the beers taken off my ticket!, or heck maybe they'll give me a gift certificate? Maybe even just a sincere apology". Nope. In fact, It took another half hour before "they" would even bring my ticket to me.
At this point I felt like a prisoner.
Empty plates, empty glasses, I'd been in there for three hours and was exhausted and ready to go home. I'm literally waiving my debit card in the air. I looked like a lunatic. Eventually "they" got it. I anxiously handed the little leather folder containing my Visa to her. I made eye contact. I asked her to please hurry, because I had to go. She laughed "They'll be quick, haha!". She lied. Another. Half. Hour. OMG.
BUT! I was impressed with the food enough to try again.
This time I would be smart, I would call ahead! I would pick my Ricardo Burger up & bring it back to work. I would be able to enjoy it at my own pace without being held prisoner.
I woke up this morning and thought. "Today's the day" I drove to work exuberantly. Shared my lunch idea with a half dozen co-workers, they were excited because it's not often we are able to find something new in this area! I ran around and collected orders & cash from people, all the while selling them on the delicious food they would soon enjoy. Triumphantly I picked up my phone, googled The Ram. Dialed the number. Exclaimed to the person on the other end of the phone with obvious excitement in my voice "I'd like to place an order to go".
The response... "We don't do that until after the new year"
At this point all I could do was laugh, because "They" don't do that, haha!
2 stars. The food is great, but the service prompted me to write my very first online review for...
Read more2.5 At best as of 3/15/17 but I'll give them another try. I'm unsure when they opened but it was recently. I would have thought by now that it would have some footing under themselves but that was not the case. I will say that the hostess, our server and a manager were nice/friendly. On a service level though some have some way to go. First, we waited 5 minutes to get seated. There was one person ahead of us waiting as well. Plenty of tables were open. A waitress came up to drop off menus but didn't say a word to us and walked off. I would at least expect acknowledgement or a greeting and offer some info about waiting, like "Hello, our host/hostess will be with you shortly. We apologize for the wait." or something. Not just look at us and say nothing and walk off. That is infuriating! When the hostess appeared she sat us quickly after taking care of the single party ahead of us. The hostess recommended one of her favorites from the menu (dessert) which was nice. Our waitress appeared quickly and told us about burger week and took our drink order. Within 10 minutes from sitting we had placed our order. 20 minutes later our waitress said our food will be ready shortly (code for: an error or problem). 5 minutes after a manager approached our table (error or problem justified...) and apologized for the delay. He said it was taking extra time to press and cook our burgers to 'well' as requested. To clarify, we ordered 2 of the Mama Mia burgers for burger week that are made of Italian sausage and burger mixed together so of course they should be well done. Also, the menu did not asterisk this burger with the standard warning about consuming under cooked meat hence it should not be cooked any other way. The Mama Mia burgers we received 5 minutes after his visit from him were extremely thick (so much for pressing??). It was almost like a meatball. Nothing like what it looked like on the menu. The burger itself was bland but I'll not go into that. Anyway, it was at least 30 minutes after ordering when received our burgers. I feel that there was an error somewhere along the way and if offered the truth, I would have been more accepting. I feel we were not told the truth. I'd rather have the honest truth rather than be told a lie to cover up a mistake or error or whatever. We left abruptly as we all were equally late for various appointments/work. I will return for another visit. I know "growing pains" are part of the process after opening. Just be honest. Greet people. Smile. Be yourself. Have fun! We'll try it...
Read moreNot a good experience. Ordered the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla appetizer. I assumed with would come with sides of all the listed items on the menu. Instead we received a rather small quesadilla that was completely covered in sour cream and a little BBQ sauce. My wife and daughter liked it, but my disabled son won't eat food with that type of preparation. If I had known ahead of time that a $11.75 appetizer would have been prepared that way, I wouldn't have ordered it.
My wife really liked her Spicy Caesar Salad. She said it was probably the best salad she ever had. We got my daughter the BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger and my son the Ram Classic with ketchup and cheese only, both ordered well done. My daughter said the burger had a very odd flavor and she wouldn't eat it. My son ate his burger, but much slower than he normally does. I noticed the burger came prepared with lettuce and tomato, and no cheese. I didn't think at the time this could have been someone else's burger, and I didn't check how well the meat was cooked. I think it was significantly under cooked now that I look back since the burger was completely falling apart and very soft in the center. Needless to say, my son was throwing up all night.
The waitress did ask my daughter if she liked her hamburger. We informed her she didn't, and we ordered her a desert that the waitress comp’d for the meal.
I was trying to eat a very light meal, and their menu just doesn't accommodate that. I decided on the Fried Chicken wedge salad, which turned into just plain wedged lettuce, a couple of pieces of egg white (I took out the yolk), and 4 cherry tomatoes. My daughter tried the chicken, but didn't like the taste, and it was mostly breading. That salad is seriously over priced at $13.50.
Kudos for the restaurant comping my daughter’s desert and the Spicy Caesar salad, but the rest of the meal was a big disappointment, and considering the bill was $86 (which is extremely frustrating because we can’t afford to go out to eat very often), I won’t be returning to their restaurant. I’m not a beer fan, so for those that enjoy that aspect of paying for a beer at a restaurant for 2/3 the price of a six pack from a grocery store, you may like...
