Blues City General Store — Local services in Memphis

My daughter bought a really overpriced, little, rabbit purse from this place when we stayed in Memphis on vacation. (This was on a Monday.)

Before we had gotten back to our hotel that evening, the foot and the ear were already coming apart. By the next day, the whole ear had fallen off. We had a lot of activities planned for the week, but we told her we could go back and try to exchange it for something less poorly made the next time we visited Beale Street. The receipt said, "No receipts. Exchanges only."

We went back to Beale Street the following Thursday, and the girl working at the counter said that, "Yes, we could exchange it for something of equal value."

My daughter picked something out, and when we went back up to the counter a lady who I'm assuming was the proprietor insisted that they did not allow exchanges. When we showed her the receipt that said they did, she changed her mind and said they did allow exchanges, but not on broken merchandise. When I asked her why someone would want to return something that wasn't broken, she changed her mind again, and said she couldn't honor the exchange because too much time had passed since the purchase.

The whole encounter, it was clear she was trying to find any lame excuse she could to avoid honoring her own policy as advertised. Basically, this woman makes money by selling shoddy merchandise to children.

She told us we would have to take it up with our bank, which was obviously a moronic thing to say, considering my daughter paid with allowance money she had saved for her trip.

I'm sure no one reads reviews on shops like this, but since she makes her money by being dishonest to little kids who don't know any better than to buy her overpriced garbage, I hope she never makes another dime off of...

Lindsey is awesome!!! I'm so thankful that she was on duty the night we met!!! Aside from being super sweet and professional, she went out of her way to help me when I lost my purse last year during ELVIS WEEK. God bless her! We keep in touch now and I consider me one of MY BEST FRIENDS and A GUARDIAN...

I bought a beautiful pull over shirt that had Memphis written on the front with a lot of glitter on it, very soft material and really beautiful, too bad I left it in my hotel room and of course house keeping kept it, is there a website where I can order...
