Everyone was very pleasant, but requests seemed to go in one ear and out the other. If they could hear you. Phone in room to front desk was all static. Walked to the front desk to ask in person on the way to dinner. Could we get a couple extra towels while we're out? No problem. Except when we got home later that night - no towels. When we called to ask, we were told we'd have to come to the lobby for them (is this a Hilton or Motel 6?). I was told the next day when I requested a 3rd time, that (again) I'd have to come down because "there is no housekeeping staff on your floor today". (What??)
The hotel seems well maintained, is clean, and nicely appointed in the public areas. But there were stains on my unused towels and hair in my unused shower.
Shower would not drain. Had to stand in dirty water up to my ankles every day. Was told maintenance would come look, but no one ever did.
The ridiculously overpriced breakfast ($15/pp) that was the same as most motels and mid-tier hotels that offer it free (eggs, potatoes, bacon) was COLD.
Sure, as Gold Members we get $10/pp food and beverage credit, but when you have to spend that on something that should be included, or at least should be WARM, it's quite disappointing. We asked for my husband's meal to be removed from the bill as he couldn't tolerate the gross cold eggs. Upon check out, I asked about the deduction. The girl at the counter said, "She said you ate it." (Whomever "she" is??) I said, yes, I ate the cold eggs, but my husband didn't. We requested a credit for his meal... but honestly it shouldn't matter if it was eaten. It was terrible.
The bar/restaurant - while staffed with very nice people - was disappointing in that the hours were all over the place. One night they closed at 9:30... another night 10:30... etc. And considering there were very few customers, it was sad that we had to seek out our bartender (after he took away our empty glasses) to get a tab. He was in the back eating something, as he came out with his mouth full. Getting a bite is certainly fine, but if you take our glasses and we said we were done, why wouldn't you put out a check immediately?
Frankly, I'm so TIRED of the continued excuses for understaffing and poorly trained staff. It's clear when you visit places that take this seriously (for example The Peabody where we had STELLAR breakfasts the rest of our stay for about $2/pp more) that the issue is what you pay and how you train.
Having literally just switched over our business cards to Hilton Honors American Express, I am very wary now. I hope this is a Hilton exception and...
Read moreWe requested bedding for the sofa bed in our suite 4x over the course of a day and it never arrived. I called down at 11:30 or so because I needed to make the bed and they made me come down and then gave me unfolded top sheets. I asked for a pillow and blanket and was told they didn’t have any. After a half hour they “found” a pillow (still no blanket) and acted like they were doing me a favor.
I went down the next day to let the manager know. He was apologetic and told me to put the complaint in writing and email him. He also told us our room would be cleaned around 1 that after noon once we were out and they would bring up bedding. When we got back at 5 they had just started cleaning the room and we needed to wait to get ready for dinner- but at least I could make the sofa bed.
At 5am the next morning the fire alarm went off forcing an evacuation of the entire hotel. I know it’s not their fault but seriously?
The next morning we asked for extra towels and when they hadn’t arrived an hour later I went down to the front desk to ask again and was told by the front desk attendant that were waiting for them to be done in the dryer. Is this entire hotel operating off one spare load of towels?
I asked the front desk for a recommendation for a boutique so I could look for a pair of boots to wear that night. They told me there was nothing around and advised me to take an Uber to Nordstrom rack in the Memphis suburbs. $40 in Uber fares later, I got my boots. Later the next day I found a boutique less than 10 minutes walking distance away (stock and belle) that was lovely and had many options. How does the front desk not refer me there? It truly boggles my mind.
Finally, it took the hotel “restaurant” (greyhound) almost 2 hours to get my friend the fries she ordered while she sat at the bar.
I’ve traveled extensively and this is literally the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Do NOT book this hotel. Literally any other option would be better. Hilton...
Read moreI was traveling with my boyfriend and due to weather we ended up needing to stay in Memphis overnight. So I called to make an emergency booking for one night. The lady on the phone was wonderful and helpful. We used 5,000 Hilton Honors points to take some off of the stay but everything went smoothly with booking, so we decided to walk around the city some more while we were still parked in a public parking down the way. We should have stayed parked there. When we arrive at the hotel assuming by their pictures online that they have their own deck for us to park in we are greeted with a Valet only sign. I just knew that couldn't be right the young woman on the phone had said nothing about a valet. So we pull up out front and I go inside to ask where guest parking is. I stand in front of the desk for 5-6 mins before the young man at the desk looks up from his phone to notice that I am standing there. When I ask about parking he says that it is valet only and $30 a night to park overnight that will just be charged to our room. I was beyond confused if you have a mandatory valet at 30 bucks a night you should probably say that during the long list of things about your hotel such as the no smoking or dog speech so that I understand that there is another fee attached to my stay before I authorize the charge. I would not have been as upset if I had known when booking that there was an extra $30 but being hit with that as I arrive at the hotel was not great especially after having to stand in front of the desk for too long. The room was clean, and the place is clearly well taken care of, but I don't recommend using the soap they have even to wash your hands unless you need to scrub off a layer of your skin. I have certainly stayed at worst hotels but I've never had this experience at a Hilton and I was very disappointed in the...
