BUYER BEWARE – Extremely Disappointed After Years of Loyalty

In 2011, I went to Howard’s Jewelry Center with a very sentimental goal — to create a meaningful piece from several treasured family jewelry items I no longer wore, including my grandmother’s wedding band. I wanted something simple and wearable every day — a right-hand ring that would carry all the memories.

Howard’s helped me select what seemed to be the perfect modest setting, and they mounted a 1/3 carat diamond in the center. I left that day feeling truly happy with the result and wore that ring proudly every day for years.

Fast forward to this year — I brought the ring back to have the worn prongs repaired and 3 of the tiny diamonds in the setting replaced. That’s when everything changed. Upon inspection, I was told the main diamond was chipped — shocking news! I left the ring to be evaluated by their repair specialist, expecting some guidance or options. Instead, I received a call telling me the ring was “basically worthless,” could not be repaired, and that I must have been “too hard on it.” They even suggested the setting wasn’t meant to be worn daily — despite the fact that they had helped me choose it specifically for that purpose!

The most insulting part was the complete lack of accountability or empathy. I was told the ring had no trade-in value and that there was “nothing they could do.” The manager wouldn’t even make eye contact with me when I came to pick up the ring.

To be told that the $1,500 ring I purchased is now worthless, and that the blame lies with me, is beyond disappointing. After researching, I’ve since learned that a chip like this is often a sign of poor diamond quality — something that makes sense now given this entire experience.

Howard’s offered no resolution, no compassion, and no ownership. I will never return to Howard’s Jewelry Center and cannot recommend...

If you’re looking for that go to Jewelry store Howard’s is for you! It was the 4th jewelry store I walked into on a quest for a ring for my Niece. I new I hit the jackpot when I walked in. You could literally see the high quality of the beautiful jewelry pieces in the cases. The selection was amazing! I barely found 1 white gold natural gem stone ring at the 3 other stores (Mostly sterling silver). My very friendly, knowledgeable & helpful jeweler Ken showed me at least 6 different rings I picked out. He also was super honest and informative about each ring. I felt like I was buying it from a family member! I walked out with an amazing ring for an amazing deal in a beautiful inner box, outer box with an attached satin bow and in a regal looking bag with tissue. I don’t even have to wrap it!
