Alvin's Island - Miami Beach #18 — Local services in Miami Beach

I am a local resident from south beach miami since 10 years ago and I have been buying in this store all this time , they have nice stuff, however , today , I have lived a terrible experience completely unexpected I gotta say ,with 2 of the employees at the store , specially with 1 of them . The guy at the cashier , called Daviel and his partner , a woman with a hair veil were not only extremely rude ,but also racist towards my nationality origin . When I was about to pay with my sister , I asked him for a small resident discount since we had 3 items and apparently some were not entitled for the offer we though as the store was announcing “get 3, 1for free” everywhere. Daviel refused in the first place but the women with the veil gave us a 10% , not a big deal, they also told us that we could get 1 item more for free anyway , so we took another tshirt and when we were about to pay , they had changed their mines with the small discount , so I told them that they lied to us and that was not right , Daviel not only did not have the capacity to deal with the absurd situation he then decided to answer me back with a very rude tone of voice , completely out of control and made a random offensive comment about my original country !! So I was giving my money to this business and I have this individual insulting me for no reason , I defense myself back and said I would never be back to this business anymore , of course he said he did not care and the other employee took our stuff and threw it violently to one side and wanted to kick us out , after all !! It’s incredibly sad the lack of professionalism you see in some business in Miami , the level of aggressivity, the lack of manners ,education and social skills , the lies to the customers to take their money while treat them like trash … this is the ugly side of this beautiful place . If someone try to make you feel bad for your national origin , your race , your religion , your culture … don’t ever let them . We recently visited South beach Miami and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We wanted to remember our wonderful vacation with a souvenir so we stopped into your store on Collins Ave on December 5th. A souvenir shopper’s paradise! We purchased several items for our family of 5 to take home and enjoy. Two of these items included hooded sweatshirts that I purchased for myself to wear. I am a petite adult woman who normally wears a size small in tops. I tried on both sweatshirts before purchasing in size small and was pleased with the fit. When we got home, I washed and dried the sweatshirts according to the instructions printed on the labels. However, both sweat shirts shrunk considerably. I am very disappointed both in the quality of the items purchased, but also in the fact that I can't wear these sweatshirts to remember our special family trip to Miami. Both sweatshirts shrunk so much that the sleeves now rest 2 inches above my wrists and they don't even reach my waistline on my jeans. I had to give both sweatshirts to my 12 year old (petite) niece. I am sad to see that such a reputable company is offering such poor quality items to customers. It is safe to say that if we vacation again in one of the cities where you have a store, we will not be purchasing souvenirs...

The store can be a bit overwhelming for some. It's very packed with lots to choose from. Choose wisely. The "cotton" shirts are way overpriced for the fabrics they us. I got my girlfriend an awesome tie dye shirt and made sure to get it in an xl and she is only a medium. I could feel that the fabric would ultimately shrink after it is washed. I am so glad i only purchased one t-shirt. I also bought tons of key chains. I wasn't over priced but the cashiers i agree with other reviewers, they were very rude. Hardly speak english or spanish. Idk what language they were speaking but the eye contact and body language clearly read attitude. This other woman would follow behind people as soon as they entered the middle of the store. Chill out a little. If your that worried maybe downsize so you can watch from the cash registers. This is not a negative review at all. I am stating true facts! As you can see others pretty much stated the same experience I had when visiting this store. Maybe try the other one a couple stores down. Alvins island has tons of locations in miami.
