Considering the sheer abundance of bakeries and cafes in Miami Beach, San Gines stuck out to my wife and I because of its well regarded hot chocolate from Spain. Having that said, we were ultimately disappointed. To begin, the prices this bakery charges are quite obscene, even for Miami Beach standards. As an example, they have a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich listed on their menu for 15 dollars. This gets you a sandwich that is roughly the size of an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's. To add insult to injury, there are no sides either. We ended up getting some croissants instead, but I didn't save much doing so. The ham and cheese croissant sandwich was 12 dollars, and as you can expect, no sides. We also got the churros, dulce de leche variety and the famous San Gines hot chocolate. After all was said and done we spent around 40 dollars. I will give the staff some credit. They are very kind and courteous and the items ordered were brought out quickly. Now, to elaborate on the food we had. I can only summarize it with one word, disappointing. To start, the croissant sandwich was not warmed adequately, and the ingredients used were grocery store quality at best. As for the hot chocolate, quite delicious. We did not finish the hot chocolate because it was too much to drink an entire cup of, but that's no fault of San Gines. Now onto the churros, I've had better churros at Churro Mania. The churros were taken out of the fryer way too early and it did not taste good at all. I attached a picture so you can see how light in color they are. As a Miami native, I cannot recommend this place at all. There are much better bakeries in Miami; Vickys Bakery is an...
Read moreI visited Chocolatería San Ginés on Sunday, August 10th at 9:50 PM, specifically timing my visit based on Google Maps’ listed closing time of 10:00 PM. Unfortunately, I encountered extremely poor customer service that compelled me to share this experience.
Upon arrival, I was curtly informed by Valentina, the female staff member at the register, that they were “closed,” despite having 10 minutes remaining until their posted closing time.
What made this interaction particularly disappointing was the dismissive and unprofessional manner in which I was addressed - there was no courtesy, explanation, or apology offered to a potential customer who had made the effort to visit within business hours.
The irony of this situation became apparent when I later confirmed that the establishment does indeed close at 10:00 PM, meaning they were essentially turning away business during their official operating hours. This represents a fundamental failure in customer service standards and business operations.
As someone who simply wanted to enjoy some churros, I found this experience reflected poorly on the establishment’s commitment to hospitality and professionalism. I would recommend management address their staff’s approach to customer interactions, particularly during closing procedures.

Read moreI went here on 3/22/25 with my friend. I ordered the tumaca toast and a matcha latte. We take our seat with our number. We wait and wait and our food shows up but not our drinks. We ask about our drinks and the girl goes to make them. My friend had asked for a nonfat matcha latte and I got a regular matcha latte. They deliver 2 lattes and the give me one and they give the other to my friend and it says 2 percent on the lid written in sharpie. She goes to the counter and they tell her that “2 percent and nonfat are the same thing.” .. It wouldn’t have been an issue if they said they didn’t have nonfat milk but don’t gaslight her and tell her it’s the same thing. The matcha latte was light on matcha flavor as well. We left and wanted to get another matcha drink because we didn’t feel like we had one. Also, the toast. The jamón was plentiful but was cut so thick that you couldn’t bite into it and couldn’t really cut it either. I took bites but you’d pull the whole piece of jamón out and the egg would fall off. It was just a very messy toast and pretty flavorless. We had to ask for salt and pepper. Also the bread was so soggy from the tomato that it broke when you went to pick it up. And it was lukewarm when it arrived. I don’t understand the hype of this...
