If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My girlfriend wanted to get highlights, she spent a month looking for a new place to get them because she had a bad experience in the previous place she went to. She found Michelle’s Instagram and her work seemed like what she was looking for. She makes and appointment and goes to Michelle, she starts doing her hair for probably thirty minutes and then tosses her to another employee there that does the washing and combing. She proceeded to comb my girlfriends hair so badly that she made her cry, she was in complete pain during the whole hour and a half that this woman had her on that chair washing her hair, and after multiple brush switches another employee realized what was happening and tried helping out, she did in fact manage to comb my girlfriend’s hair without making her feel extreme pain and was a little nicer too. After this she was then moved to another chair and to a different employee who was going to be responsible of styling her hair. In all honesty this was the only part of this whole visit in which I finally felt like my girlfriend was being rightfully treated and she felt the same way. The stylist was super nice and he did a great job. Overall the experience was horrible because my girlfriend had to go through the hands of basically the whole salon, when technically her appointment was with Michelle and no one else. She had to endure 2 hours of intense pain and then to top it all of she wasn’t really satisfied with the results. I think that by how much this place is charging they should be competent and capable of at least combing hair without making someone feel like they are being tortured. Nonetheless, I don’t think we are stepping foot on this place ever again. I wanted to leave this review to make sure that you are aware, unlike us, that if you make an appointment with someone in this place you might get tossed around like a hot potato and I wouldn’t want...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with my experience at IGK Salon Miami. While the salon is full of talent (Erica and Mimi are great at what they do), the customer care and client attention aspect is completely missing (I.e., the attitude feels like "why bother?" when the chairs are full and demand is high.) I went in with high expectations stemming from the reviews, but currently feel like I threw $615 (including tip) in the trash. In short, I went in this past Friday for a root touch up, hair cut and partial highlights (color correction). I was in the salon for 6 and a half hours before I had to ask that they skip the curling iron because at this point, I needed to truly GO. During those six and a half hours, it felt like the stylists were pulled in so many different directions that they couldn't give their full time and attention to client in the chair because they were being asked to pinch hit. I had to ask for water myself because I wasn't even offered that. I don't blame the stylists - I blame the salon's operations and management for putting them in that position to begin with (having to wait for sinks to be available while color sits in clients' hair, etc.). While I liked the color on Friday and Saturday, my hair now feels rather like straw after washing it, with VERY dry and frayed ends. I suspect it was over-processed because they simply didn't have enough time to fully attend to it. $615 is A LOT of money to pay for pretty color on burnt, dry hair.
Long story short - IGK might have some extremely talented stylists, but if the customer care angle is missing, it might be a one-shot deal with unretained business for some of us. I am so disappointed with my experience - and the little care shown by the salon - that I don't even have the desire to let them correct my damaged hair, and will likely go to someone else. Money...
Read moreLaura is amazing with haircuts! She really takes the time to listen and work on your hair. The stylists that have blow dried my hair have also always been kind. If it was based on this alone, I would give 5 stars.
I had a gloss treatment done and i loved it, so i decided to go back for a color appt with Julianne. she was very kind and i thought the consultation went well. about halfway through my service, one of the assistants took over putting the color on and i didn’t really see my stylist for the rest of the appointment, except at the end when it was blow dried. i had to point out a huge chunk of my hair that was left un colored while in the middle of the service to the assistant. at the end it didn’t come out how i wanted. Some of the tones were warmer than I expected, although with the salon lighting and being far from the mirror, i couldn’t tell until i was home. I texted the salon and they had me come in for a quick retouch and it was a bit better but not what i wanted or paid for. I’ve stood at the reception desk and have been ignored multiple times - most act like they are too good to be there with the exception of one. I forgot her name but she had brown hair. She was the only positive receptionist i had.
My color service was over $600 (before tip) and i ended up going to another salon to try and fix it, but they said it was damaged beyond repair and i had to cut off most of hair. I don’t mind when assistants help out, but to pay this amount and not have it done properly by the stylist is not a good look for IGK. the whole experience was overpriced...
