Came to Miami with a $4k shopping budget and $2k was specifically for Alo. To preface this story I have recently gained weight to medical and hormone issues.
Went into the store and saw how amazing customer service was and how they were just doting on the women. Awesome! I ask for help and was shoved off and ignored (keep in mind that I am dressed in Alo leggings and socks and have an Alo scrunchie in).
So I asked another salesperson if they have anything similar to the moto leggings I was wearing and she looked at me with disgust and pursed her lips in attitude and shook her head. Asked if they were getting anything similar, and she gave the same reaction (still no verbal acknowledgement from her). Said "so....that's a no?" She just replied "noooooo" while still scowling and shaking her head no. Told her I saw they still had the moto leggings and some quilted moto pants on the site and before I could finish my sentence she said "I don't know " while still scowling and shaking her head no.
A whole minute later she is helping someone and smiling, looking very animated while assisting a thin fit woman wearing an Alo tennis skirt and matching cropped tank. SERIOUSLY?!
What did I do? My husband noticed and pointed out that when he was watching the whole thing the girl looked like she was disinterested and wanted to vomit from disgust. Gonna call this like I see it and stamp Alo sales reps as discriminatory and fat phobic. I looked around and saw 2 other overweight women that also were not getting help. This is horrifying and disgusting. Bad business move to tolerate this treatment of clients. Overweight brand loyalists will by far be spending more due to weightloss and fluctuations.
Shame on the salespeople at Alo in the...
Read moreFat phobic and rude staff. Asked for help from one of the few women at the store that wasn't busy and she just stared right through me while I was asking her a question. She didn't want to help me. How do I know? The only words that came out of her mouth were "ummm I don't know, I'm sure we don't....ok?" and "no". All I asked for was a top in a similar style to what I had on, which was a zip hoodie. While I was spite gathering zip hoodies to come back to show her, I saw her helping a thin woman filled with botox and lip fillers.....and she was peppy and smiling. C'mon!! I may not look like that woman (I'm a 2XL in Alo) but I would've bought way more than her, considering I've just started Mounjaro and had intended to purchase a 2XL, XL, and L in 4 sets of outfits to start off with on my weight-loss journey since I'll need workout clothes which was going to be a smidgen more than $3k. Came to Miami with an extra empty suitcase to bring my haul home, and sadly left with it not containing any Alo because I was so hurt and furious that I left without anything (they had my sizes btw). Now I've gotta shop at ALALA, ugh. Mark my words: I'll be back in December looking super thin, to test my fat phobic theory.....and I'm going to point my bony little finger in their faces and call them out. That store has the rudest staff I've ever seen, and even though they may look thin and pretty, their attitudes reveal...
Read moreThis was one of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had. From start to finish, I felt judged, uncomfortable, and unwelcome at the Alo Yoga in Wynwood.
I visited on Saturday, July 12th around 3 p.m. The store was under construction and felt chaotic. The fitting rooms were unbearably hot (trying on sweatpants in what felt like 90° Miami heat is not ideal). But what made it worse was the staff, particularly the girl stationed by the fitting rooms. I was already very nervous about trying on clothes, as I felt insecure, and she made it 10 times worse. Every time I stepped out to check the fit, she stared me down in a way that made me feel incredibly self-conscious and insecure. Instead of helping, she made me want to stop trying things altogether, and I did. I left without buying anything simply because I did not feel comfortable.
The whole atmosphere was disorganized, with people running around and little clarity on who even worked there. The only exception was one very sweet girl (wish I could remember her name) who tried to help, but overall the experience was awful. I do not recommend Alo in Wynwood to anyone. If you want to shop Alo, try Merrick Park or the new store in Dadeland. I will be going there instead. But Wynwood?...
