I went in to this facial so optimistic based on all the wonderful reviews I read online, but unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. I decided to wait a few days to write this review in hopes that my skin would be "glowing" as Mindy promised, but it's not glowing. In fact, it's extremely dry and irritated!

Mindy was very nice, but a major red flag was that she did not take the time to discuss my skin concerns and what I was trying to achieve. She had me fill out a questionnaire, but didn't look at it prior to beginning my facial. The only thing she asked me with respect to the questionnaire is if I gave my consent to post pictures, which I did not. That should have been the least of her concerns. Mindy started doing treatments on my face without explaining anything or telling me how much each treatment would cost. She was quite aggressive with the applications and even explained that she "does not do any facial massages and that she just focuses on results." Not quite sure what she meant by this, but it's imperative to massage the facial muscles to help bring oxygen to prevent aging. Anyway, Mindy washed my face, exfoliated, gave me a "organic chemical peel" and then proceeded to do microdermabrasion (again) WITHOUT ever explaining or asking me if it was okay. From everything I researched online, a professional esthetician would never do a chemical peel and microdermabrasion together...organic peel or not! When she gave me a mirror to look at my skin at the end of the facial, my skin was bright red (in all my years of facials, this has never happened to me). What if I had an event to go to that evening?? There's no way I would have been able to. At the end of the facial, I asked her to put sunblock on my face because I had to walk to my car. At no point did Mindy explain to me to stay out of the sun after receiving the peel and microdermabrasion (Facials 101- EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and neglectful), as this could be extremely damaging. From past experiences, receiving other types of facials, I obviously knew this could be detrimental. Even though, I stayed out of the sun, my skin was on fire all day. I texted Mindy as I was extremely concerned. It took her hours to respond and her response was very nonchalant and dismissive. She never followed up the next day to check in. So unprofessional!

Not quite sure how she has so many positive reviews online, maybe she gives her clients discounts for posting their pictures while performing treatments or maybe because there is signage all of the room to post a review on Yelp and Google! So unprofessional! $159, and a 20% tip later, this was the worst facial I have ever received!

Mindy- your response is laughable. I don't have challenging or advanced skin conditions. My skin is perfect! I needed a little boost because I've been nursing a baby for 8 months! What professional esthetician who has been in the business for "10 years" does not discuss their clients skin concerns, goals and treatments prior to performing the treatments?? This is ludicrous. I have been going to Dr. Ellen Marmur, Dr. Zaiac, Mario Badescu Spa and several other high end spas for the past 10 years and this has never happened. I would never step foot in your "spa" again. The reason we are in this predicament is because of your unethical practices. And your reviews...

I followed her to her new business after she left emena spa and I am just so grateful and appreciate to have Mindy for my skincare needs... after having her fix my skin (when I thought nothing could help) I became addicted! Her space is clean, cozy and inviting. An escape within the chaos of Miami. It’s more than having a facial but a quiet sanctuary.

Mindy is knowledgeable and skilled at what she does and performs a thorough deep clean, followed by any specific mask treatment my skin needs at the time. I have sensitive skin, so I always have mild redness and swelling post treatment but it quickly goes away and clams down. My skin glows the following day. She also provides education and aftercare so you are informed about the results and expectations.

Note: If you have very congested skin or other concerns, understand it takes more than one treatment. Nothing happens over night but if you stay with Mindy’s recommendations and come for follow up treatments, you will see amazing changes to your skin complexion.

Her products are top quality and great value. You can purchase them right at her clinic. No need to run around figuring out what or how to use them. She explains it all.

I highly recommend Mindy Skin Care for anyone who is looking for knowledgeable, professional, and skilled skincare technicians. If you suffer from the trials of hormonal and cystic acne, you will be well taken care of by Mindy and her team of experts.
