Pros: it's a vibe
Cons: Loud music| can't have a conversation
As I walk towards Victory restaurant and lounge, I can hear music (hiphop) coming from the restaurant. I walked up to the entrance to be greeted by a security officer who began to search me, that made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Had me wondering if this was a restaurant or a club? As the hostess walked us at table I can hear the scratching of a record then I hear Biggie Smalls “One more chance” lyrics “First thing first I Poppa freaks all the honeys..." The lights were dim and there was all types of greenery and flowers hanging from the ceiling and walls. Visually, this place gives a rustic garden type of atmosphere but then the hookah smoke hits you and the bass from the music sets you off into a club atmosphere..As we were seated, we found it hard to have a conversation due to the loud music. Our waitress arrived and introduced herself then proceeded to ask if we wanted anything to drink and also advised us to scan the Q code on the table with our phones to view the menu. The menu was not overwhelming, it was easy to read. I ordered the Victory Shrimp for my appetizer and Chimichurri Lamb Chops with mashed potatoes. My food arrived in a mannerable time, but my entrée came before my appetizer. The presentation was very desirable and that lamb was succulent, (note, as a professional eater I was almost embarrassed to be sucking on the bones to get the last pieces 🤦🏾♂️😋)! I must say the lamb chops were the highlight of this dining experience. Now, the mashed potato’s tasted like boxed mash, but the shrimp were a good, jumbo size, fried golden brown, crispy & lite as well as tasteful with good flavor profiles.
Overall, the price was suitable for the food served. After dinner, I ordered a Hookah. Every table and the restaurant had one, so we just joined in the atmosphere. Overall I had a good experience. If you're looking for good food in a nightlife scene, this is your place.
Oh I almost forgot to tell y'all. My restroom experience was not a pleasant one at all, there were huge puddles of water all over the floor. There was also water leaking out of the AC vent from the ceiling, and I advised management of the restaurant of my disgust.
If I was to suggest something it would be to turn down the music until after 10pm and to advise the patrons that it will be loud music after a...
Read moreBLACK OWNED BUSINESS ALERT 🗣 I spent brunch on Sunday here at Victory and let me tell you I enjoyed myself very much. It was raining on Sunday but when we came in it was still full, booked, and busy ! My cousin told me about this restaurant and she said nothin but good things so I felt the need to try it out myself. Given her experience, I was expecting a long wait but when we came in we were waiting for less than 10 mins then the manager gave us his table he was saving for another party. Upon sitting down our waiter Cindy came and took our orders. There’s no menu but there is a barcode inside the flower vase. I ordered the hookah blueberry version, the woo drink, steak and eggs med well, and margarita. The woo will creep up on you so I suggest you take a Uber home if you drove ! Needless to say I love strong drinks and the woo satisfied me. I normally hate margaritas but the ones at Victory is unexplainable to me. It’s like I don’t taste so much lime and it’s is wrong as well. Steak and eggs were sooooo goood. Properly seasoned and cooked well. The yellow/white ish sauce that came with the steak and eggs was no tasteful at all. I also think the purple inedible flower that pose on the entree as decoration is tacky to me for some reason. Hookah was one of the best I’ve ever had but EXPENSIVE. I have never paid 90$ for hookah and I personally think it’s overpriced and not necessary to get which I won’t next time I go. When it comes to ordering Cindy our waiter said we can only put in our order once for the whole table and we have a maximum of 2 hours on our table. Now I understand the wait time but I don’t get the order system and I think it should be adjusted. You can however purchase drinks which is bad because you can’t absorb it with anything because you can’t order food. On the menu there isn’t any appetizers which sucks as well. There was a DJ playing brunch tunes and it was a VIBE. He just needs to keep the volume up the whole time lol. The ambiance style was really rustic and I loved it, I think the vase with the flower was tacky and the outside seating needs to be repainted because you can see the paint chipping. I WILL BE BACK VICTORY THANK YOU. Follow me on Instagram for more...
Read moreI wish I took photos of the food because what we had, we enjoyed and it was very presentable. However, I was distracted and annoyed with the experience, the service and the lack thereof. I was excited to try Victory but it’s clearly a place where whoever has the most money, gets the better service. It has club type elements to the restaurant scene and a lack of roles can cause issues. If you offer bottle service, hire people for bottle service. Our waiter went completely missing and was very inattentive to our table because the people next to us bought a few bottles and he had to serve them their drinks and shots.
We waited about 45 minutes for food that we know was just sitting in the kitchen due to him tending to this other table. Once we asked another server for the food, kitchen staff ran out with it. I asked for my pasta to be spicy, it was bland, flavorless and cold! I sent it back and ate the remainder of my Crab Fries appetizer. People at our table was missing food items but couldn’t bother to get them because the server was hardly there and by the time it could have been remedied , it would have taken forever again.
Speaking of time. Reservations were for 6, they called to push it back to 630 and we’re weren’t seated til 715. Our order was taken in the first 10 minutes of being seated. 20 minutes for drinks to come and we had to ask for our food and place another drink order with another server. Lastly, after we cleared the food and such, we decided we wanted to enjoy the party scene too. So, we ordered a Hookah which took 20 minutes and had to remind someone about. While there at the table with the Hookah, the new late Hookah, our missing server shows up. We tried to place another drink order when he informed us that they told him to close our check. With the WHOLE NEW, LATE, TOOK FOREVER, HOOKAH on the table that costs 90 entire dollars. We tried to order drinks and keep the night going and after all the bull, they tried to enforce a table time limit.
It was a nasty feeling, I had to ask the manager if we needed to buy bottles or spend thousands of dollars on dinner to get...
