I hate to leave this, but after coming here so many times and getting the same treatment, I can't take it anymore. First off, the store itself is great. They do have a great selection and I have found a ton of cool things there. The problem is the service. The people that work there are awful. I have been here dozens of times and spent a ton of money, but the employees are always so rude. Every single time I have gone in here, they give me a dirty look and don't say a single word to me at all. No "hi", no "can I help you", no "welcome". Nothing but silence and a condescending look. They say nothing until they are asking me for my payment. I thought I was crazy, but it's every single time I have visited. I will come in, and they will say nothing to me, but when a guy walks in after me, suddenly they're super talkative and greeting him. I walked around, shopping for 45 min, and they didn't say a word to me but asked men walking around if they needed help and conversed with them multiple times. I have had multiple instances where they ignore me when I walk in and then happily greet every man that comes in after me, and then they will start conversations with them. Even if I come in and say hi myself, I am just get silence as a response. I decided to have my friend come in with me one time and come in separately. Both me and her were ignored when we walked in, but not the men after us. I came in another time with my sister and brother. They ignored my sister and I, but greeted my brother when he came in. The last time I came in, I came in and then my sister did. We got the usual response. Then a lady came in afterwards and was ignored as well. Shortly after, a man came in and was greeted of course. At that moment, my sister and I put everything we were gonna buy back on the shelves and left. I've decided that they no longer deserve my business. I'm not going to say for sure that they are sexist, but there is definitely something fishy going on. I am not the only woman to have noticed this. I have always been nice when I've come in. I say hi, I give them my money, and I've never complained or anything like that. I don't deserve to be treated in such a hurtful way, so they've lost my business. Not that they seem to care anyways. I will shop somewhere else that actually has nice people working there....
Read moreSo my 4 star review was NOT GIVEN LIGHTLY! I REALLY thought hard about a 5 star review, but in the end, had to opt out of the 5 star review for what really boiled down to just 1 umbrella reasoning only, and that's Professional Customer Service or, lack there of, rather. Now, this being a privately owned, retro/vintage hobby/game shop, a person walking into a store like this for the first time, needs to understand that there is a certain amount of what I would call personalized atmosphere. When I say this, Im referring to the demeanor of the other customers and the employees and the relationships they have, they are quite a bit different to any mainstream store you might be used to. So you might feel like you're not getting the service you yourself would consider "professional" or even "courteous", as they are built, owned and operated by a very specific demographic of ppl, and that's who they appeal to, and that's who keeps that business thriving! All of this being said, while I personally have never had a bad experience shopping here, I have witnessed some less than proud moments from both customers and employees, to which the problem was only escalated by both sides, only due to the fact that the employee was not properly informed on a better way to handle the disgruntled, and seemingly unwillingly ignorant customers. I've never called myself a hardcore gamer, but I do have a few games I've spent 72+ consecutive hours on with nothing more than Mountain Dew and THC, so I have some idea of their lifestyle and their way of talking and interacting with others, and a lot of ppl in this demographic are not familiar with or at least do not practice, proper public etiquette when dealing with other ppl in society, making them appear as rude, short fused, or even uneducated to a lot of ppl unfamiliar with this way of living, which is largely false when dealing with the "Gamer Demographic". So while this rant was scattered, plz find the main bullet point of my story here, plz allow ppl to be dumb, and plz be understanding of that and treat them, as the ignorant baby kitten crossing the road and gently put them back on...
Read moreHands down the best video game store. A last bastion of retro games and paraphernalia. Great for spending an hour just trolling around, looking for some of the really neat things they have in stock. Excellent place to buy DVDs (if anybody still uses DVDs; I just don't trust online media corporations too much). The place has great business sense - scratched DVDs and video games will often be given to you for free or at a hefty discount. I did have a bad experience once: I bought an Xbox One and a couple of CoD games so I could play split screen with my friends. When I took it home and set it up, the games would not work! I took it back the next day hoping to get a full refund, but after taking a quick glance at the games, the gentlemen behind the register quickly noticed that they had disc rot, and they replaced the games for me. I'm not sure what was up with the guy that sold them to me, but we all screw up sometimes, and I am willing to forgive this place! Very knowledgeable staff otherwise. They also have some cool books every now and then: I bought a bunch of Mark Twain not too long ago from here. All in all, if you're a game enthusiast or just a person in general, check this place out. I don't have much time to play games anymore, but I still love to stop in here every...
