India House Restaurant in Michigan City truly surpassed our expectations, especially during a delightful visit on Father's Day. Opting for their lunch buffet, a decision spurred by a spontaneous moment, turned out to be a fantastic choice, offering a wonderful array of dishes that catered well to various dietary preferences.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a server who doubled as a host, exuding warmth and friendliness that set a welcoming tone right from the start. One of the highlights was the offer of fresh garlic naan brought to our table, which was nothing short of stellar. It was perfectly baked, with a delightful buttery taste and just the right amount of garlic.
The buffet spread itself was impressive, featuring a variety of dishes that were all fresh and packed with flavor. Every item on the buffet seemed carefully prepared and maintained at a high standard, from the vibrant curries to the perfectly seasoned rice dishes. The freshness of the food made each dish a joy to savor.
For my pescatarian companion, the variety of vegetarian options was a major plus. The choices were plentiful and satisfying, ensuring that no one felt limited by their dietary preferences.
Adding to the culinary experience was the chai offered during the meal as part of the buffet offerings. It was aromatic and lovely, providing a comforting accompaniment to our feast. The chai was a reminder of the attention to detail and authenticity that India House brings to its offerings.
While I'm not certain if the lunch buffet is a regular feature at India House, it's definitely something I would recommend checking out if available. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and a comfortable setting makes India House a must-visit restaurant in Michigan City, particularly for those who appreciate authentic Indian cuisine. If you get the chance, do not hesitate to experience this gem...
Read moreHave long-frequented India House. My brother had somehow never had Indian food, so we went last night. Per usual, the food was spectacular. If you’re looking for variety of flavor options, Indian food is the way to go, and India House does it extremely well. We enjoyed the two varieties of Indian beer as we waited. It did take maybe 20-25 minutes or so for the food to come, but we are absolutely fine with that, as ones knows it was prepared fresh and particularly for us on the spot. Well worth any wait. We went 6 on the spice scale (1-10), simply because it was my brother’s first time, but it was the perfect amount for one that enjoys spice without it being a little more prevalent to the overall taste (I usually go for 8). I went with the goat curry and my brother the fish tikka tandoori, and of course, some chicken and spinach naan to soak up all the wonderful vegetable medleys that accompany the food. The server was very attentive and personable. We discussed what cities to visit when visiting India. Overall, we’re lucky to have such an authentic Indian...
Read moreVery happy to have found a delicious Indian restaurant in the area! I have been to dozens of Indian restaurants around the U.S. and really enjoy cooking my own Indian food at home. I would say this is in our top 3 meals. The service was very kind and hospitable. My saag paneer was flavorful and husband had seekh kabobs which he said were also tasty. It was a smidge salty for our preferences and husband said his kabobs were a little dry, but he still gobbled the flavorful dish up. When they ask "mild, medium, or hot?" I would recommend airing on the side of less spicy as my mild dish still had a good kick too it (not too much, but definitely there and our toddler refused to eat it do to spice). We plan to try the buffet next as the atmosphere was very clean and the buffet...
