Bassett Furniture — Local services in Middletown

We have had the worst experience ever! In February 2015, we spent A LOT of money on buying new furniture for our newly renovated home. This was a hard decision to spend so much money, but we wanted good quality furniture. We bought an accent chest, a copper table with 6 chairs, one sofa and a chair and a half with ottoman. First issue we had, was with shipping. We were told the items could be purchased and stored until we were completely finished redoing our floors and paint, as they were having a great sale. We received a call from the delivery place saying our furniture was to be delivered about 2 weeks after the 30 days it would take to custom do our sofa and chair. The delivery place insisted they do not "hold" furniture. Our next issue came when the furniture was delivered. The copper top table had a significant scratch in it. We did have it repaired and the gentleman who repaired it was WONDEFUL! Issue number 2, we noticed about a month after receiving our furniture that the chair and a half fabric was fraying all along the seam and bottom. Again we had the repair gentleman come, he provided us with a new cushion cover. He also mentioned it must be a defect in the fabric. Problem number 3 and 4 came when we noticed that the couch fabric is pilling up everywhere and one of the kitchen table chairs got knocked over and the leg split. The knob on the drawer of the cabinet is now coming off as well. Mind you most of this furniture is for our living room, which is Not our main living space. It's more of a sitting room. We bought the extended warranty for all this furniture to "cover" and accidents or anything that happens "per our sales rep"! We have filed claims with Guardsman and we're told no of this is covered!!! They don't cover "defective" fabric and as far as the kitchen chair goes they claim we didn't meet the guidelines for claim? I am more than upset and disgusted in the quality and response we have gotten after spending almost 10,000 dollars in furniture for our home, we worked extremely hard to save for! Horrible furniture manufacturer, I contacted their cororate office and did not get a response for weeks. When I did finally get a response they told me it was the seller that would have to resolve my issue. I bought the furniture over a year ago but immediately had fabric issues. I got little balls all over the couch, called the seller (Furniture Fair) and was told this was normal and that I should shave the fabric. I have purchased plenty of furniture of the years and I have never had to shave fabric. I continued to complain and they eventually brought out new covers for the coushions and had someone come put them on and "shave the couch". It did not do much, the problem persisted even with the new covers. I again called Bassett and I was sent to their customer resolution department where I was told to leave a message (during business hours) I might add, but I never got a return call. I would stay away from Bassett furniture, their fabric is awful and the will not warranty it. I have spent $2,000 + dollars and I am stuck with awful furniture. The seller Furniture Fair and the Manufacturer, Bassett do not care about their customers. I will tell everyone I can using every vehicle there is to communicate about my experience. Five star experience with interior designer Jenny Ellis at Bassett furniture. She helped me from beginning to end and my new living room and dining room furniture would it never have turned out this fantastic without her giving me choices. Choices about colors, fabrics, artwork etc. Bassett also made my furniture specifically for me to order. Jenny helped me through these choices, even to the point of giving me a computerized representation of my rooms with proposed furniture and colors....(she came to my house to measure the rooms). I don't know much about these things and when I look at my house- post delivery- I'm greatful for her expertise. She took the time to find out about my tastes, likes, dislikes etc. Bassett makes great furniture and im very satisfied and will shop there again. Even the delivery went without a hitch. The guys were very careful bringing my furniture into the house. They wore protective shoe coverings to protect my hardwood floors. Thanks...
