I wouldn’t recommend this business if you have no Pokemon knowledge. I declutterred my kids playroom as they have all outgrown it. When it came to my oldest son’s binder of Pokemon cards he had no desire to keep them. Decided to bring them down to see if anything was of value. The binder was handed over, and in less than a few seconds I was being called a liar. Apparently the ones I brought in were fakes. This was extremely confusing and upsetting as all the Pokemon cards were purchased at Target about 9yrs ago. Immediately upon saying this the literal words were “ no you didn’t, you didn’t buy these at Target”. So besides the shock of being told the cards were fake I was now being talked to as if I was some scam artist. The only thing that was said was they’re too shiny and showed an authentic cards difference. I brought the cards to another establishment who were more professional and less accusatory. They confirmed they were fakes but never called me a liar. Instead showed me how to check for authenticity beyond what the front of a card should look like, and had some empathy for my situation. I came to ECO because of their reviews looking for nothing more than information, instead left with...
Read moreMan handled my card and didn’t even buy it, I usually like to be polite and ask to see peoples cards. This dude didn’t even have the courtesy on a high value vintage card that could be damaged easily. Nope just rip it out of the sleeve in front of my face. If only there were more people in the hobby that actually care more about the cards than numbers.
you know it’s really sad you don’t remember what happened at all. Cause I remember how you made me feel leaving your store. You tried showing me damage on the card like I didn’t know what was mine. The whole interaction, the way you carry yourself it’s like nobody could know better than you in pokémon. You talk about buying people’s collection at 60% like that’s some noble thing to do when i asked about prices. When you saw a distasteful look on my face you didn’t hesitate to follow it up with “you know i don’t even have to buy your cards right” if you want someone who buys at LP and sells for NM this is your guy. Oh and if you think you know anything about pokémon, yeah just go ahead and throw it out the window you won’t be needing that at this store along with the common courtesy...
Read moreScott is a man for the community; I can’t express that any further. He always helps people in need with any type of advice, and makes his shop truly feel like home. He even remembered to get me another keychain in a different country - he remembers the small details and cares about his people. The generosity doesn’t stop there. When I mentioned I needed something the next day, he went out of his way to bring it from his house. That type of kindness is rare these days.
He is more than a card shop owner; he is someone I consider a friend. I’m happy to live in Middletown solely because of his shop. You HAVE to check it out - from trade nights with great turnout, to his show at Mohegan Sun with over 5,000+ in attendance. 11/10 guy, who changed my perspective on cards. I can go on and on, but check it out for yourself - you won’t be disappointed.
