I got my hair cut at Madison & Co. over 3 months ago and I am still incredibly upset and distressed about my experience. What the hairdresser did to my hair is unacceptable. I went in with very thick and healthy hair and left with thin, limp, stringy hair – she thinned out about 9/10th of the thickness! She also did not communicate that she was going to razor it, which is a look I sincerely dislike. Reactions I have gotten from friends and family include, “Are you sick?! Your hair is so thin!” and, “Why would a hairdresser purposely do that? Are they new to the profession?”
I am absolutely devastated, especially because it could take YEARS to restore my hair’s original thickness. She thinned out SO much of my hair that in the last 3 months it has barely changed in appearance and still looks thin and sickly.
In a world with an entire industry built around products that thicken and add volume to hair, what hairstylist thinks it’s okay to thin out a patron’s hair to such an extreme degree, particularly without communicating this first??
It pains me to write this because I like and respect this hairstylist as a person. However, if you don’t want you hair ruined, do not go...
Read moreI was hesitant to write a review but decided I would so someone else would not have the same experience. I went to Madison & Co downtown hoping to find a salon near work. I went for a color with bleach. It was AWFUL. First, I had to tell Debra my hair needed to be toned. She had combed it out and asked what I thought. It was orange - it clearly needed toning yet I had to tell her. Thankfully I have friends and family in the industry so I was sending them messages during this appointment to help me. The process took forever far longer than it has ever taken me to have a color done (4+ hours). Second, I had cheetah marks. Whatever she did she did not evenly distribute the color through the strands of hair - she dabbed them on. I could not wear my hair down as it had a giant cheetah spot on the side. Not only did I leave with orange colored hair I also had spots. Debra is on their website as a hair color employee - I would expect to have better hair color than what looked like a bad box dye - oh and cost me over $300. Thankfully I was able to have it fixed at a different salon.

Read moreHad a very crazy interaction with a stylist from this salon. The stylist was harassing me and others and I decided to notify the owner of this salon. The owner obviously doesn’t care how the business is being represented so I’m sharing.... I’m also reporting them to state board and the irs. Salon owners should be concerned at how their employees represent them.... too bad they work on professional people.... don’t wast your money!
They actually got me to delete my Yelp review however, this salon is dirty, has inexperienced staff, rude management and they allow their employees to harass, belittle and trash customers and people over social media. State Board should pull everyone’s...
