On Saturday 02/18/2023 we returned to Piglets Pantry which we visit every couple of years or so to get treats and see what's new. We went there with our golden retriever and the woman running Piglets was so kind and helpful it was a real joy to have found this little gem in Mt. Dora. Fast forward to today. Unfortunately we arrived in Mt. Dora after a 2.5 drive from Tampa and found there was a festival going on. The traffic was horrendous and Mt. Dora posts no parking sign everywhere and it is nearly impossible to find a place to park. Once we finally got parked, we went to Piglets. Sadly what we found was not what we experienced in past visits. The proprietor was not what you would call cheerful or pleasant by any means and came across as snooty. The same kind of condescending attitude you get from many of these specialty shops in small downtown historic districts. My wife did purchase about $40 worth of dog treats anyway. After the long ride she asked if she could use the restroom and was directed down the street two blocks to a public restroom that my wife described as the worst she had ever seen. Not a picture postcard of Piglets or Mt. Dora. You take our money we expect a modem of decorum from the business. Fortunately there are other local pet specialty stores that want...
Read moreI came here from out of town visiting my family and they thought I’d enjoy this shop. I did, and saw something relatively pricey that I was considering purchasing. While thinking it over, I checked out the entire store. The entire time I was asked if I was “finding everything ok” several times. After acknowledging them and saying yes, one of the two women working there proceeded to not-so-subtly follow me around the entire store while the woman behind the counter stared at us. It was so uncomfortable and odd that they thought I was going to steal just because I was looking throughout the store thinking about making a purchase. Literally everything I picked up they asked if I had any “questions”. They interacted just fine with what appeared to be regulars coming in and out of the store. Needless to say we left empty handed. I was so upset. Cute stuff but I would never return! I now see I’m not the only one who felt this...
Read moreSorry I wasted my time and money here. I thought it was a cute enough store, however a completely unwelcoming environment. The lady behind the counter was not friendly at all. Didn't bother to greet or help any customer that came in. I said "hi, how are you?" when I went to the counter to pay and not so much as a "hello" back. In fact the only thing she ever SAID was to tell me how much I owe. I also asked a simple question to which she curled up her lip, made a nasty look and shook her head no. A polite yes or no would have sufficed. Making rude, disgusted faces the whole time I'm checking out is not very good customer service. Perhaps you shouldn't treat paying customers as a burden or like they're not good enough to be in your store. Won't be coming back here anymore. There are much better and nicer pet stores around where customers aren't...
