Unfortunately im very disappointed with this particular location and the practices they have shown recently. I am a local resident and have shopped at this store on many occasions as a customer and as an instacart shopper. This past year this location hired the most wonderful and helpful employee that I have personally ever had the pleasure of being helped by. Her name is being redacted out of respect for her new empkoyer and bc she doesnt want to cause drama but she showed up every single day with a smile on her face and an eagerness to be helpful and kind. She displayed this professionalism towards her co workers as well as the customers. As an instacart shopper i had the pleasure of seeing her most days. Unfortunately during her hiring process some of the ts weren't crossed and the Is weren't dotted in the form of her background check and the report somehow never got ran. There are policies for a reason which I fully understand however when she came to work there she was at the beginning of turning her life around and doing so in some major ways. Unfortunately from a place of fear she didn't speak up about her journey. She hoped her actions would speak for itself. Fast forward almost 1.5 years her journey has been a roaring success. She is a true success story who had the odds stacked against her. Apparently one of the managers at this location was made aware of her.past and the parts of it that she still has to complete legally. I must ad that in a court of law she is documented as being in full compliance. At this point her dedication, reliability, professionalism, kindness, beyond the call of duty performance, zero personal drama, over all happy and positive disposition, availability at any time to fill in stay later or start sooner, success in her personal journey beyond measure no longer mattered. It didn't matter that the hiring manager never ran the supposed job required report. They immediately became front sight focused on making sure she knew they were aware of her omitted information. They had her sign a document admitting she had lied and informed her they had to think it through and speak to corperate. Then they fired her the very next day and keep in mind her job performance was no less.than excellent a real against all odds success . Ive looked into some of the requirements for employment at this location and in an entry level cashier position i was not able to find the information saying that a background check is a mandatory job requirement. I believe that in a leadership role it becomes a requirement however I was unable to get any of the employees or managers that I mystery shopped on the topic to tell me of this requirement. Shame on you nags Head food lion because you had one of the best hires I had seen in a while at your location and you intentionally and hurtfully tossed her aside and made her feel like she had not succeeded in a way that they were willing to endorse and employ. The cashier that I encountered during my last trip there made sure to make me aware that she doesn't believe in God as I stated god bless you and have a good evening. She was visibly aggravated just at the simple fact I got in her line and rang up every thing in the coldest most off putting way that she could. She was offended by my blessing and came off rather aggresive. I have rarely encountered any employee at this location that had a positive or helpful approach to my asking where something might be or any other help that I've needed. I looked forward to shopping when she was employed. Now.i intentionally shop elsewhere and I will continue to do so even with the extra miles I have to drive to shop the competition. Do better food lion and perhaps make a customer service training workshop your entire staff would benefit from. You really dissappointed me along with several other instacart shoppers and 2 other regular customers. You lost atleast 5 shoppers who came daily and...
Read moreFood Lion at the beach: where grocery shopping meets the thrill of a scavenger hunt! If you're looking for a store that combines the charm of a warehouse with the ambiance of a mid-80s sitcom, then this is your paradise.
First off, navigating the aisles here is like embarking on a grand adventure. Ever wanted to experience the excitement of finding milk next to motor oil? Or discover that the bread aisle doubles as the impromptu headquarters for beach toy overflow? Here, every trip is a delightful mystery.
The produce section is especially enchanting. Itâs like a game of âGuess the Freshness.â Some items are so ripe they might walk off the shelves on their own. And those avocados? They're either rock-hard or have entered a new state of matter entirely. Good luck finding that perfect guacamole candidate!
Shopping for seafood at a beach location sounds like a dream, right? Think again. The seafood section has a certain aroma thatâs less âfresh catch of the dayâ and more âwhat died here last week?â But hey, if you can brave the smell, you might just walk away with something vaguely resembling a fish.
The staff? They have truly perfected the art of "helpful avoidance." Need assistance finding an item? Be prepared for a game of hide and seek, where the employees are the undisputed champions of blending in with the shelves. When you do find someone, their enthusiasm is about as lively as a dead fish â fitting, considering the seafood section.
And the checkout experience? Nothing quite compares to the thrill of realizing you're in the slowest line known to mankind. Watch in awe as the cashier moves at a pace that suggests theyâre operating in a different time zone. It's the perfect opportunity to reflect on life, read War and Peace, or maybe even start a podcast.
In conclusion, Food Lion at the beach offers a shopping experience thatâs as refreshing as a sunburn. If you enjoy unpredictability, questionable freshness, and an atmosphere that screams âwe tried, sort of,â then this is the place for you. Happy shopping, and may the odds be ever...
Read moreI wouldnât recommend, came here to get a few snacks and wine for our resort weâre staying in to celebrate being on vacation, immediately a food lion worker rushed and bumped into me and made an angry face and then bumped into another customer nearby to get into the deli and then stormed off somewhere else, unsure who the employee was but it was a female with dark black hair. Finished up finding what we needed about 10 minutes later, and we got wine so we avoided self checkout since we knew we would get carded so we went to a checkout lane, the cashier had no customer service she just made a straight face, no communication to us, didnât ask if we had a food lion card. She kept staring at us waiting for us to pay and I told her I had a food lion card I wanted to use especially since the chips were bogo. She looked irritated that she had to go back and scan my card. We did tap to pay, she handed us a receipt and did not say anything to us. Just overall not very friendly employees at...
