I have been a long time, committed Dillards shopper up until today when this store obviously hired a bad seed onto their management team. I bought a pair of shoes for $59.99 from the Green Hills Dillards store several months ago. I went to return it and the item was 90 days past due. The item was still in store, but had been discounted since I purchased it. However, it was in the original box and had never been worn. I had accidentally brought the wrong original receipt with my item because I had bought 5 different items on different days that same week. I was honest with the manager and told her that the item was still 90 days past due and explained to her the multiple purchases on multiple days and I asked if she could please give me a store credit for the item. She was very nice and said she’d be happy to give me store credit, if I could just bring back the original receipt and show what I paid for the item. I went back home and laboriously went through the trouble of sorting through all of my clothes receipts, found the receipt and returned it to the store on a different day, only to be told by a different “manager” (Renalda?) that she would not return the item because it was past 90 days. I explained the situation multiple times with zero understanding or compassion towards me and my situation. She was behaving unfriendly from the beginning of the interaction, no smile, no how can I help you, just nasty. She was exhibiting an abuse of power, in my opinion. I explained how frustrating it was that she wouldn’t consider giving me what was promised to me by another staff manager after all the trouble I went through to locate the receipt, drive back and return the item a second time. Obviously, I wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble of searching through my receipts and making another trip out of my way to the store if I had not been told that they would refund me in full with a store credit by a store manager. This “manager” didn’t care how inconvenienced I, her customer, was by the situation and neglected the fact that a store manager who had full decision making authority had already agreed and instructed me on the steps to take in order to get a full store credit. She repeatedly kept saying, I can’t return this item because it’s past 90 days. Honestly, I don’t understand her motivation to be so inflexible regarding the situation . After all, I wasn’t asking for a refund back on my credit card, I was only asking for store credit, which was what was originally promised to me. The store would not have lost any money as a result of providing this customer courtesy for me. Customer service is everything to me and if you can’t provide good customer service then I don’t want to be a customer. Needless to say, I will not be shopping at Dillards as a result of my experience. Dillards failed to deliver on their promise and this failure was over a simple $59 item. This practice is absolutely unacceptable, I am beyond disappointed and it’s truly a shame that due to one bad seed with no customer service skills that Dillards has lost a long time committed shopper of 30...
Read moreVery few people at this location have any people skills or awareness of how they come across at all. First of all, I was buying a dress and the employee checking me out seemed like she’d rather be anywhere else, just not friendly at all. When other customers started lining up she rolled her eyes. After my purchase, I made the unfortunate decision of deciding to return a fragrance gift set I bought at another Dillards. I still had the receipt with everything on it, but the top part of the box with the label was accidentally thrown away. I didn’t realize that receipts didn’t matter to Dillards and you can’t return or even get store credit without this all-important label. I’ve worked many retail jobs with high ticket items before and this just seems like a ridiculous policy, but it can’t be helped.
As if that wasn’t frustrating enough, an associate in fragrance accused me of getting the item somewhere else and trying to return it at Dillards, which is an ignorant thing to say when I had the receipt. Another associate who was much nicer started to help me, but the rude associate couldn’t help herself and decided to chirp in that they didn’t even sell the product I was trying to return. I pointed at the item right in front of her on their shelf and said yes you do, it’s right there. She didn’t apologize for her mistake or for basically accusing me of something bad, she just smirked and said “oh, I was looking in the wrong place”. It’s pretty alarming that someone working in fragrance wouldn’t know about a popular gift set they sell, and would instead choose to snap at a customer. I told her manager, who also refused to help me with the return, and she claimed she’d handle it. I don’t trust anyone to actually be talked to for the awful way this associate was treating me, because everyone here seems to have a bad attitude so it’s clearly acceptable. This Dillards is awful and I’ll be going to the Cool Springs one if I ever need...
Read moreI went in the Greenhills Dillard's to buy a shirt for my son to be worn with his suit. We went to the formal shirt area around the Hart Schaffner Marx counter and picked out 3 dress shirts for my son to try. The suit customer service rep objected to this and said he had some open shirts that my son could try and not to take the 3 dress shirts in the dressing room. I told the rep that usually the shirts are cut differently between brands and my son needs to try the one that he buys. Anyways, he also goes on to measure the neck and sleeve length for my son and suggested a sleeve length which was a 3/4 inch short. I told him that a particular length fits him to which the reps reply was in the negative. He then launches into a critique of my personal style. Highly unprofessional. I was dressed in a casual full sleeve shirt which I generally fold when I wear jeans. The reps critique was of my sleeve length. In his words my sleeve length was "terrible". I told him that I was dressed casually and not in a suit and that it was my style of casual dressing. I found this unacceptable customer service. I reported this behavior to the manager who was very understanding and apologetic. We generally shop at Dillard's and this interaction was very unpleasant. I would have given this a one star but the manager performed...
