One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had — and definitely the worst in Nashville. We waited more than an hour for our pizza to arrive and watched every single other table around us receive their pizza, pasta, etc. Our server kept ignoring us until we shouted for her attention and she acted extremely annoyed that we asked twice where our food was. We had an infant at the table as well that she elbowed when she was reaching over to grab dishes - without any apology. When we asked for our food, she literally just kept saying “I don’t cook.” We completely understand that maybe things go wrong, maybe the server forgets to put the order in, etc, and this would all be tolerable if the server is apologetic and polite. But ours just continued to act like we were bothering her with a smug attitude. She was nasty, rude, and she kept walking away in the middle of our sentences. She didn’t care at all that we were waiting over an hour for pizza with an infant in our lap while all her other tables happily ate.
We had to leave because it became clear that we weren’t ever going to eat lunch. We asked to speak to the manager Miriam Creighton, who was just as rude as the server and tried to tell us that covid was the reason we didn’t get to eat. She just stared at me and said, “if you work in a restaurant, you’d know how busy we are.” It was a slow day with no wait at all for a table. When I gave her my card to pay, she yanked it out of my hand and stormed away like she was upset. My whole family was horrified and extremely disappointed — and hungry. Again, if she were apologetic and polite about the situation, it would’ve been a different story. But she was just as nasty as the server.
If you enjoy being served by people who hate their job and are annoyed by patient customers, this is the place for you. Otherwise save your money and go somewhere much,...
Read moreWas doing some shopping at the Green Hills Mall and came across the newly opened North Italia. This spot is beautiful, very open, bright, and inviting with beautiful décor. They have an extensive menu and we tried to sample a few things to get a good feel from this place.
Appetizer: The White Truffle Garlic Bread with house made ricotta, mozzarella, grana padano, and herbs was DELICIOUS. Seriously…this appetizer was incredible but watching some of the other dishes come out of the kitchen the Italian Meatball appetizer is something to try also.
We got to try/share four different main courses and here is how they all panned out:
Kids Spaghetti and Meatballs is a huge plate and to an adults palate very good. The eight year old who had the dish claimed it was a little spicy for her…and I could taste the spice in the dish but I loved it. The meatballs were really good and the pasta a perfect Al Dente!
Bolognese which is a house specialty is a traditional meat sauce with tagliatelle noodles and grana padano cheese. This was a really good Bolognese with plenty of meat and the sauce had some good kick to it. The noodles…again perfect Al Dente and I would have to state this was the best Bolognese I’ve had in a very long time!
The Margherita Pizza was a good size and had pleanty of mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, and a mild red sauce. This pizza is baked in a brick oven, the crust perfect, and the flavors were excellent.
The Pig Pizza is touted as a spicy pepperoni, soppressata, and Italian sausage pizza. While overall the pizza was good the anticipated spice was just not there.
Our server Peter C took great care of us, made sure we had everything we needed, and provided great suggestions. I look forward to visiting this spot again to try some of the other dishes...
Read moreHate leaving mediocre reviews but when I spend over $100 on pasta I expect it to be seasoned.
First off the service was great. Wine recommendation was on point and app recommendation (white truffle garlic bread) was great. We ordered a Colombia valley Riesling which complimented our selections nicely, and the white truffle ricotta had a lot of flavor but was not overpowering.
What let my wife and I down was our entrees. Without diving too deep into detail there were a few flaws the left us feeling disappointed. She had the burrata anolini, I had the short rib cavatelli. The pasta water in which our entrees were cooked in was not seasoned which made the pasta taste bland. The pasta itself was tough in texture (most likely overworked, but they could have used AP flour in their recipe). This left the edges on the anolini nearly inedible and almost sharp. The filing was also under seasoned. My cavatelli had almost no sauce, and again the pasta water wasn’t seasoned so the dish tasted very bland. No sign of the promised cream sauce, or any bite from the horseradish. Total 180 from the satisfying appetizer we had. This lead to us skipping desert when we originally wanted to try a few things.
I should have taken pictures to provide, but we were there in our infant son, and didn’t want to make a big deal. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, so we didn’t complain. Plus we were eating during a kitchen staff switch time (between 3:30pm-4:30pm) and didn’t want to be difficult.
We hardly ever leave reviews but when you’re spending $20+ for a moderate sized bowl of pasta it would be awesome if the kitchen would nail the small details and at least season the pasta water. Would like to revisit and see if it was just a mistake because the apps and...
