I would have liked to have given a good review but I can’t. I would have given the restaurant 4 stars for service because our waitperson, although new, was knowledgeable about the menu and also responsive when it came to trying to correct the problem with our pizza. A 5th star for service would have been given if the manager ahoy any enthusiasm upon our 4:30 pm entry. I can only assume that although the doors were open we were too early and got were not welcome. I should mention I tipped 22% because I wanted to make sure that the waitperson got what she deserved if tips were shared. I should have asked her if this was the case but really just want to get out of the restaurant and the last thing I want to do is not poorly compensate restaurant staff. Yet to give an honest review, I’m only giving the restaurant 1 star for both bad food & inappropriate & rude kitchen service. I rate atmosphere of restaurant a solid 2 because the entire store smelled of dirty mop water. Here below is an explanation of why I can’t review higher than 1 for both food & service. The salad was fine and so was the fountain soda but the pizza was not okay stretch, and the account I given will explain the situation poor review for service. After letting our server know that our pizza was not edible and barely digestible in its current state she was more than happy to request a “re-fire”. This alone should was been a warning that something might be amiss with the kitchen. What is a re-fire? I asked and she explained… the would prepare a new pizza. Okay, that’s fair enough. Where things went really wrong was directly after our first pizza left our table was when my son and I both could clearly hear a kitchen manager (I assume) tell the his kitchen staff that we needed our pizza well done and that some ‘people’ like there pizza burnt. Granted there was a wall that separated us from the kitchen but hearing this kitchen complaint was surprising to both my son & I but as we were quite hungry just rolled with it hoping for the best on the “re-fire”. Instead I’m kicking myself for not calling the restaurant out on this right then and there. Patrons should not hear comments like this. The first pizza served to us had raw dough. Pizza dough, even Detroit style should be given appropriate time to rise and not be gummy & gluey when served. Our request to remake the pizza as suggested by our server was not an unreasonable one. And with those back kitchen comments that is how we felt. Fast forward to second pizza , the bottom had a crispy crust which IS appropriate for Detroit style pizza we were looking forward but the dough between was STILL raw. We went ahead ate the pizza as we were hungry and didn’t want to cause any more of a problem (thanks to the kitchen manager) than we already felt we had made. Now, I feel like a pushover and as a result would never return to this Emmy Squared Pizza location or probably any other of their locations because of this experience. I would also not recommended this restaurant to anyone I know. It is my hope that the management and owners of the Emmy Squared Pizza chain take this honest review into serious consideration. Thank you for your time.

Ok, yes, let's get it out of the way up front- it's pricey. But oh my god is it worth it. I almost pulled a Meg Ryan right at that table when I tasted the Zia Fries. I don't know what kind of witchcraft went into making those babies so good, but I know that I'm all in, even if it costs me my first born. It's the perfect concoction of crispy, seasoned waffle fries and spicy, cheesy goodness (we got ours without bacon, but if you're a meat eater just imagine how much better these will be). And omg the portion size is gigantic. The cheesy garlic bread was crunchy and gooey and just the right amount of garlic (ok, it could use more garlic, but we're the kind of folks who at least double the portion in any recipe), and while they were greasy, it's what I would expect from this kind of decadent treat. Decent portion size here with six shortish sticks per order. Possibly overlooked is the fresh and vibrant sauce that comes with these lil guys. Perfection. And yeah, I know that's a truckload of food already, but hang tight, because we also ordered pizzas. In a word, delicious. It's a lot of bread if you're used to thin crust, but if you're a Chicago or Detroit style pizza fan, you'll feel right at home. There are several standard special pizzas and a make your own option. Go wild. The possibilities are nearly endless and they're all going to be delicious. Each pizza is six decent sized pieces, so plenty for leftovers. Good news is any leftovers are delicious cold but also reheat well, so yay for even more options. If you're still reading this novella, congratulations! Now go get some freaking amazing food. And do yourself a favor, don't order this for delivery. Delivery does NOT do this place justice. Get it hot and fresh and the way god or the coven of witches intended. You can repay me in Zia Fries (but no bacon for me, thanks).

Very disappointed. Based on the photos from the menu and the high price of the pizzas, we expected really good pizza. Our pizzas were very bready. Seemed like flatbread, not pizza. Scant toppings, scant sauce. We got the Quinn, the Big Ang, and the Nashville Hot Chicken pizza. All were dry, over-baked. The meatballs on the Big Ang were burnt. All the cheese on all 3 pizzas was overcooked and dry/hard. I will say the Brussels sprouts appetizer was delicious. When we picked up our takeout order, I stood at the hostess table waiting, then tried to make eye contact with the staff in the kitchen who looked like they were making conversation with each other, then did that same thing 3 times. Finally I walked to the kitchen and someone started looking for my order. She then walked to the front of the restaurant but didn't say anything to me, so I eventually followed her up there without her acknowledging me. We finally found my order sitting at the front with someone else's name on it. Just generally not a $90 experience which is what I paid for 3 pizzas and Brussels sprouts.

Emmy Squared is awesome! We like it so much, I/we ate there three times in our 5 day visit with our daughter who attends Belmont University in Nashville.

The first visit was a to go order - this is the first taste of their incredible Detroit style pizza. I made a build your own with pepperoni, sausage and mushroom.

The next visit was with my daughter and two of her friends. We booked a reservation on Open Table and even through we were twenty minutes early, they sat us immediately. That was when were introduced to Jalyn. All we can say about Jalyn is "wow". She was very attentive and immediately made a connection with the table as she is also a Belmont student. I am sure we were not her only table but she made us feel like we were. We started with the mozzerella sticks - probably some of the best we have ever had. We also ordered two pizzas - cheese and a build your own and finished with the skillet brownie. We left nothing on the table!

Finally, we visited the following night with our daughter. We booked another reservation and again showed up early. We were sat immediately and again hit the server lottery! Jalyn was our server and greeted us like we were family. She remembered my daughter and I from the previous night and treated my wife (who was not with us the night before) like she already knew her. We had the mozz sticks again and my wife and I ordered the build your own pizza while my daughter tried the burger. Similar to the night before, the food and service was amazing.

We will definitely return to Emmy Squared when we are in Nashville again, and hopefully we will see our new...
