The after purchase customer support from Container Store is EXTREMELY disappointing.
I contacted the customer service number for a single item to replace a broken Elfa piece. I waited on hold as expected. However, when I was provided assistance, the CSR person instructed me to send my question to the customer service department via email with the subject listed as “Mystery”. She couldn’t deal with it right now, as she was busy. (Really?!)
I agreed to email the store as requested, and asked if she could hold for a second while I got a pen to write down the email address. Her quick response, “no, I cannot hold. I’m busy with designs and cannot hold for you.” I first thought she was joking, until she said, “I’m serious. I’m not holding for you. I’m doing designs right now.” I was stunned. If the customer service reps are too busy to answer the phone, then they shouldn’t answer it.
I can hold for 15 MINUTES, but she can’t hold for 2 seconds?! My call resulted in me not being helped, and being completely dismissed. A CSR working on “designs” that’s too busy for me to grab my pen, is far too busy to get any of my future business.
Unfortunately, after spending thousands of dollars on closets, wall units, laundry room organizers, etc., this company apparently no longer needs my business. Honestly, this is a partially why big box stores are going away. If they are going to cease to offer true customer support, then why shouldn’t a customer just buy cheaper online.
Do yourself a favor, and do just that. Shop elsewhere.

Read moreWent yesterday (Sunday May 15th) to purchase some items, we were browsing for about five minutes at the front area before check out, after that time a person went to check out and the cashiers told them they could not check them out and that their system was down and since it was 2 minutes before closing they would not be able to check people out if they wanted to return next day they could separate the items for them, I asked if it was possible to pay with cash to which she said no, ok. We left a note with the items and our name to return next day.
We returned today (May 16th) to purchase the items, as soon as we walk in, Cindy (one of the cashiers) said okay, they grabbed the items basically as we enter the store, we walked towards the register, while I was telling my husband we should probably not get one of those items, Cindy asked (in a very rude way and tone) are you guys ready? her overall attitude was really bad, when my husband told her that we would not get the item that I was holding on my hands, she snatched it from my hands and threw it behind her, she said OK, and started the check out process, there was no hello, nothing and a really rude attitude from Cindy, not only from today but the day before, only because my husband wanted the items, otherwise I would have not purchased anything.

Read morei wanted to do a custom master closet & decided on the elfa closet system. the wait time as a walk-in was minimum 30 minutes but when i finally got help the associate was nice & patient with my specific needs.
i chose to pay about $530 for the container store to handle installation. the installer was on time, professional, and got everything done in 2 hours. the installer did not follow the height i chose for the top-most sections. i'm really short and didn't want my top rods or top shelves too high to reach but the installer put the topmost roda & shelbes abour 2 inch off my 8ft ceiling. i asked him to correct the height (lower everything) & he did so without issue.
the one reason i wouldn't use this store's custom closet system again was the pickup process. the asaociate advised me not to have anything delivered bevause it's easier to fix mistakes or broken pieces in person. it was a nightmare to load my car with the tall brackets. the associate didn't do much to help with the brackets - they only put the smaller items in the trunk. i have a 2-door jeep wrangler and it was hard to get the brackets to fit so i had to duct tape them & i had to hold onto them the entire drive home.
