Élan Flowers — Local services in New York

I purchased flowers from Élan back in July. The experience, service, and flowers were phenomenal - even though Élan wasn’t my first choice. Let me explain.

I was gifting flowers to someone for a special occasion and ordered online from a different florist. These flowers really did not look remotely close to what was pictured (these were about $130 all in), and I had 2 days to make it work. I spent about 3 hours googling around for different florists in NYC and making a few phone calls. A few florists were very rude, very unenthusiastic, or they didn’t pick up - which is understandable as there was a pandemic.

I’m at a point in life where it doesn’t matter to me whether the flowers costs $100 or $300. What I didn’t want was to order something and have it look dead on arrival.

The lady on the phone was enthusiastic, asked very politely about what the occasion was, any color or flower preferences. As a guy who gets overwhelmed by the selection in the toothpaste aisle and has stuck to one brand of toothpaste for 8 years, I told her my best understanding (+ Peonies) and she said she would take care of it. Lo and behold, she called before the flowers left the shop, and the delivery driver called when he was downstairs dropping it off to my mail room (I lived at the Sky and they have a full service mail room with staff).

The flowers came out looking even better than pictures on their website with the added Peonies (at no charge). There wasn’t a twig or branch out of place, the lady and delivery driver didn’t need to call for me to go downstairs to pick it up immediately.

If you’re a guy who wants to flowers but the type to pinch pennies, pass on Élan. Go to your local bodega and pickup a bouquet from one of the dozen flower pails.

Patrick & team at Elan were the florist for our wedding this past October - and they are truly incredible!!!! We were a COVID wedding and we ultimately cancelled our original plans and had a much smaller party at a different venue a year after planned, and Patrick worked with us to make sure the budget transferred over seamlessly for the new space and to make our vision come to life with both florals and room/table decor. I showed them a few pictures that I liked as inspiration and they knew exactly how to achieve something similar but ultimately even better in the space. The look was clean, simple, elegant and absolutely beautiful, and it even incorporated a lemon theme that we used for our invitations - which was such a nice addition that tied everything together beautifully. They placed beautiful candles throughout the entire space which absolutely changed the look of the room into exactly what we wanted. On the day-of, the Elan team arrived to the venue and noticed a little tribute table I had put together for my dad as well as an open space on the bar, and they added a few floral details to spruce up both areas without me even asking, which I could not be more appreciative of! On top of all that, they are such truly kind and responsive people who made it an absolute pleasure working with them through what was otherwise a pretty miserable year, let’s be honest! I can never thank the team at Elan enough and could not recommend them more for any weddings or events!!!!!! They are simply the best...
