Annie's Fruit & Vegetable — Local services in New York

Annie's Fruits and Vegetables is one of the most interesting of grocery stores in New York City as it's certainly one of the only places to be open 24 hours a day for that fresh fruit you need at 3AM. The service is great and the place is well-lit and clean but there truly is not that much variety and it's difficult to find the prices of items. In addition, having a store open 24 hours a day means high upkeep costs which translates to expensive prices; this store cannot even compare to the prices (or variety) that you can get at Fairway market just a couple blocks away. I ended up paying twice as much for a number of different items ranging from food products like quinoa to candy to fresh flowers. At the end of the day, the reason grocery stores aren't open 24 hours is because the business model doesn't make sense and the higher prices will turn most customers away, especially when Fairway is just down the street. Since the new owners took over post pandemic their dealings have become suspect. From a sliding scale on prices depending who is working the drawer, to a now even more interesting incorrect tax rate that they are charging every customer who walks in hoping they don’t notice . Please explain to me how at the 8.875% NYC tax rate and $60 purchase comes to a total of $67.59 …. They are stealing from every customer who walks...

Don’t buy the flowers!! I’ve been buying cut flowers here for a few months now and lately the flowers have been getting more expensive and not lasting as long. The final straw was the peonies I bought this week that were FOURTY DOLLARS for 6 small buds.
