Really amazing patisserie, and I’m very happy that it is in the Upper East. Before getting into the food, I would like to say that the space is so cute and relaxing. The upstairs seating area seems like it would be an amazing place to sit and have a coffee date or do some work. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly as well.
Let’s jump into the food. I ordered more than I could finish, and have not been able to try everything yet, but I was impressed with the few pastries that I did try today.
The chocolate macaron was perfect. The shells were smooth, had the classic macaron “feet”, and the chocolate ganache filling was rich and creamy. The macaron shells were full, had a crunch when you bit into them, and had a wonderful chew and mouth feel. I also ordered the lemon flavor, but have not had a chance to try it yet. If you’ve have a Macaron before, you know how rich and sweet it is… very difficult to eat more than one in one sitting.
I tried the Canelé next and wow. It was delicious. The outside was crispy, and had a light browned butter/ caramel flavor. The center was soft and spongy, which made for a very satisfying chewiness to the dessert. It had a mild sweet and nutty taste, and would be a perfect pairing for coffee, or anyone who enjoys pastries that aren’t too sweet.
Lastly, I didn’t end up trying the Cake Marbré yet, but I did want to point out the white stuff on the chocolate coating. The white texture on the chocolate is fat bloom, and happens when chocolate falls out of temper. It’s still completely edible, just not very pleasant to look at. Other than that, the cake smells delicious, and I’m excited to try it tomorrow morning for breakfast.
As a pastry enthusiast, Patisserie Vanessa is a perfect place to satisfy your French pastry cravings. The staff were so nice and helpful, and will explain all the pastries to you if you just ask. I would highly recommend everyone to come check this new shop out! (the boxes with their branding are absolutely...
Read moreIt was a quiet Saturday afternoon on the Upper East Side, the kind of day that carries a soft sense of purpose without any rush. I’d been meaning to stop by Pâtisserie Vanessa for some time—a name I’d bookmarked long ago but hadn’t had the chance to visit until that moment. And as I stepped into the charming little storefront on Lexington Avenue, I immediately knew it had been worth the wait.
The space is discreet and elegant, tucked away yet unmistakably French in spirit—refined, luminous, and lined with pastries that look like they belong behind glass in a museum of confections. There’s a grace to how everything is arranged: rows of delicate treats, glimmering under soft lights, each one whispering an invitation.
I stood there for a while, quietly mesmerized and slightly unsure of what to choose. The offerings were abundant and thoughtful—each more tempting than the last. Thankfully, Noah—gracious, gentle, and intuitively kind—stepped in to help. He listened, asked what I liked, and guided me toward something special: La Charlotte.
La Charlotte is the kind of pastry that speaks before you’ve even tasted it. Wrapped in a ladyfinger-style edge and filled with a rich lemon mousse, it looked almost ceremonial. Though I didn’t get to try it myself—it was a gift for a friend—I could already imagine its texture: airy, citrus-laced, soft yet dignified. A quiet crescendo of sweetness and light.
I didn’t sit down that day, but I intend to return—next time not just to browse, but to stay. There’s a softness to this pâtisserie, the kind that makes you want to slow down and sip something warm while the world drifts gently by outside.
Pâtisserie Vanessa isn’t just a place to pick up something sweet—it’s a pause, a gesture of refinement in a city that rarely stops. And thanks to Noah and Jada, my brief visit became something...

Some of you may be wondering why I have a carton of eggs in front of a plate and a little jar that says Patisserie Vanessa. Well..This is what I’m saying with those two items. I suggest you go over to patisserie Vanessa and show them the jar that’s empty on this photograph. And once you get that wonderful jar of Le Taboule Du Sud , take it home and scramble two of those eggs in the carton that are the best in the world that I’ve had in the 21st century. In the 20th century, I was living in Alabama so we would go outside and pick our eggs up. And they tasted exactly like what is in this carton. over a year or two this is the only egg that I eat. These people don’t know me. They did not ask me to say this. I’m just telling you if you want a good lunch, breakfast or a delicious snack have those two products in your refrigerator and enjoy yourself. It is absolutely delicious together; by the way while I am using these people’s product, the eggs are from Vital Farms. And that name is printed on a beautiful carton. Oh, and by the way, there are different colors of the carton and there’s a reason for that. Go out and get yourself some real eggs I’m not saying that the eggs that are out, there are not real, but to me these eggs are real real. Another thing you want a croissant, just ask yourself that question do I want a real croissant? If you do take your behind over there to Vanessa and you will have more of a croissant in your tummy then you will have on the floor. The other real real too. Life is reality and we deserve to have a real real life. And that’s why I put them together to share with you and to share with you. It makes Google and...
