Absolutely, without a doubt, uBreakiFix - Phone and Computer Repair provided THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I have ever had in my life. I'm in my 50's and a New Yorker for 3 decades. I've seen my share of bad customer service, believe me, but uBreakiFix somehow managed to exceed the absolute lowest possible bar with their incompetence, lack of even the most basic customer service skills, a shocking inability to manage customers' expectations, zero time management abilities... the list goes on and on and on. I wasted at least 12 HOURS OF MY LIFE trying (and failing) to get the simplest repair made to my Android phone which has a broken screen. I waited in line for hours, listening in pain to the oh-so-cheerful, floppy-haired dude at the desk chit-chat with customers about how "cool" the stickers on their laptops are, and hemming and hawing about all kinds of unrelated issues (meanwhile, the line of angry customers in the packed sardine tin of a store continues growing as floppy-haired dude keeps shooting the sh--t about Comic Con and cartoons and fun stickers! Yay! When I finally get to the front of the line, of course, floppy-hair tells me with a big sh-t-eating grin that my Asuriant claim was processed incorrectly! I need a cracked "inner screen" replaced -- not a "cracked screen" as it says in the claim. So I politely ask the uBreakiFix to... you know, FIX the problem... but, no, the burden is on me (naturally) to call Asuriant back, wait on hold for ANOTHER hour, and refile my claim. But guess what? THERE IS NO OPTION IN ASURIANT'S SYSTEM to fix a 'cracked inner screen." So, the Asuriant dude has to call uBreakiFix to ask them to MANUALLY update the claim... which they COULD HAVE DONE WHEN I WAS THERE! So hours have passed. I squeeze my way back into the sardine tin, which is now packed with at least 12 people, and by the time the sky is darkening, I finally make my way back to the floppy-haired fellow at the desk. I try to explain (as calmly as possible) that Asuriant cannot change the claim; uBreakiFix has to do it. The floppy-haired fellow jovially tells me that they have to order the part. Why? Because they only have it in black, not silver. "I don't care!" I say, on the verge of tears. Well, I have no choice. So my ENTIRE DAY IS DOWN THE TOILET, requiring me to cancel plans for the weekend that I was looking forward to after a VERY stressful past few weeks at work. I get multiple calls from uBreakiFix that the part is ready, and I can come by any time and they will prioritize fixing my phone. I go to the store, and, of course, there is a man in there with a SAVAGELY BARKING AND GROWLING gigantic husky / wolf / something -- on a leash, but looking and acting very menacing, barking at me, and not eliciting any sort of response from the owner or floppy-hair behind the desk. Praying I won't get bit or mauled -- although maybe that would be on-brand for this establishment -- I finally hand over my phone for repair. Of course, I'm informed that "It could take 3 hours... maybe longer." I had to literally LOL when I heard that. Yo, bro, come on. I heard you tell AT LEAST twenty customers the same damn thing the other day when they dropped off their phones and computers. "This should take 2 hours" or "Give us about 3 hours." Hilarious. But, all joking aside, and being heart attack serious for one moment: PLEASE PLEEEEEEEEASE DO NOT EVER, EVER GO TO THIS STORE. Even if your phone, even if your LIFE, depends on it. Why? You will languish and deteriorate for hours and NOTHING will get done. Nada. Did you see "Beetlejuice"? Do you remember the waiting room in hell? Well, that's uBreakiFix on Lexington Avenue. It is a living hell. I would rather go to a bombed pile of smoking ash and rubble that was once a phone repair shop in war-torn Ukraine, pull the bloody corpse of the technician out of the wreckage, and put my phone in his dead hand. Guess what? I would get much better, and much more competent, service from this mangled corpse that I would from Mr. Floppy Hair and his ilk and the good people at...

About 4 days ago, my iPhone 6sPlus that I’ve had since 2018 started randomly restarting for no reason that I was aware of. When this would happen, the phone would also lose its cellular service from Verizon. I couldn’t make and take calls, or send and receive texts. As this is a work phone, and I work from home, this was an untenable position. I was able to get my cellular service back, but then it would go out again, sometimes without the random restarts.
A little research on my part lead me to understand that the problem could be related to an aging battery, and my phone still had its original battery. I went to the Apple Store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. After waiting around 20 minutes for my repair reservation, the Apple technicians refused to work on my phone or replace the battery, as there was a slight, almost indiscernible, bulge on the left-hand edge of the phone near the screen. I had never noticed that, as I always kept my phone in an Otterbox Defender case. The Apple techs said that the bulge was probably caused by the overheating/swelling of the battery and they couldn’t guarantee that they would be able to put the phone back together again, even if they tried to replace the battery.
I had some familiarity with Ubreakifix, and so I checked Google Maps to see if I was near one of their Manhattan locations. I found that it was a little more than a mile to the Ubreakifix on Lexington Ave. at 88th Street. I’m so glad I decided to walk there to see if they could replace my battery!!!
After the technicians at the Ubreakifix store examined the phone, they concurred with the Apple Store technicians that the problem was the battery, but saw no reason why that slight bulging on the left-hand side of the phone would prevent them from replacing the battery.
Just about two hours later, I had a perfectly working phone again. I was so completely amazed at the quick service and reasonable price. They even let me use the $10 off coupon that is given for your next visit to apply to this visit, which made my employer happy as she was the one who was actually paying for the repair bill.
I would definitely use them again in...
Read morePhenomenal repair technicians, probably the best I've met! I keep returning to UBreakIFix at 1324 Lexington Avenue because they can fix nearly any electronic device (even when the manufacturers won't), they're honest, reliable, communicative, and reasonbly priced. This month, they replaced both batteries in my Microsoft Surface Book 2 after Microsoft said they couldn't. Ibrahim (a store manager and senior technician, I think) did an unbelievable job and the computer runs like new. In addition, they've replaced the batteries in probably 5 different iPads (which Apple won't do, but eventually referred me to this store) and repaired an iPhone. I can't recommend this store and these technicians strongly enough.
My prior review from 2022: Great experience with UBreakIFix at 1324 Lexington Ave in NYC. I brought in a 5 year old ipad pro in need of a battery replacement after a technician at Apple (which wouldn't perform the replacement) suggested this shop. The repair was performed perfectly and quickly. A small issue crept up afterward, which the technicians promptly fixed. It's my understanding that ipads are particularly hard to service, but these technicians were able to do it. With their permission, I wanted to mention Israel and Diego, the technicians who did the repair, and Rosmely, who staffed the front desk and made the arrangements and kept me informed. One thing to note -- these stores are apparently franchises, so each one is different. For any electronics repairs, I recommend this particular store and would ask for Israel and Diego specifically....
