Most of these amenities that stated on their website that was included with purchase was no where to be found.
First we arrived early around 5, there was no line yet and they were not letting anyone into the venue so we walked around for a bit. By the time we came back there was one line for all guest. I tried to find someone to speak to about VIP priority admission however no one was there. We waited in the regular line till about 6 when the doors finally opened to the venue. I again went to the front to find VIP access and they shut the door in my face while allowing General Admission tickets in first. There was no one to speak to and it was causing a commotion with me walking to the front of the line and I did not want it to end in a fight or worse so we waited with everyone even though we paid for priority admission. Once we finally got up the line again general admission was let in first while VIP had to wait. While I normally would not care we paid hundreds of extra money for this amenities knowing it was going to be freezing outside and we did not want to wait in the cold. After waiting to gain access for over an hour and thirty minuets we finally got to the front of the line. I showed them our VIP tickets and they proceeded to lead us upstairs as that is the VIP area is located.
Once we got upstairs they could not find our name nor table. We had to follow someone around for another hour while waiting to find our VIP private table for two. They did not have one set up and told us they were going to grab a table from the back and place it right in front of the door. At this time I did complain to the staff and asked to speak to a manger. We had waited over two hours in a line we paid to not wait just for them to try to sit us next to the door with general admissions. I told them this was unacceptable, while I waited patiently with everyone to get in however I did not pay for VIP access to receive general admission amenities. The manager would not take the time to actually speak to us and did not like that we did not want to sit right by the door that was continually being opened throughout the night and that we wanted to be with the rest of the VIP as that is what we paid for. I had to wait for the owner to speak to me about this issue.
He understood and brought us upstairs apologized for the issues and proceeded to sit us at a table of 6. I asked them if they were sure this is OK since it is only two of us and we did not want to move again, especially after waiting so long already. We wanted to enjoy our time and start drinking and eating before all the food was gone as we came early for this reason. Around 11-pm we had a server come up to us and asked us to move to a different table as they had a party of 7 coming and they forgot this was there table. At this point and we were already annoyed as a whole because we paid a lot of money for certain services that we did no receive and felt ripped off.
Lastly there was no premium alcohol which made you barely enjoy the drinks but I assume they did that on purpose due to open bar. However, again it is false advertisement as it stated there was premium liquor, so that is what we expected and that is not what we got.
update: response from owner/attorney stated we were probably drunk and young and do not...
Read moreHighly recommend the AMC for new year's eve. We paid for platinum view with a table for 4. The ages in our group were 10, 13, 48 and 75 years old.
Instructions of how to get there was easy and accurate. The Balldrop staff got us through the checkpoints. The theater has many floors. Each pay level had their own floor for food, drinks and dancing so I can only speak to the experience on the platinum floor. You are able to go to different floors for movies, but the movie we watched "Wicked" was showing on our floor so there was no need for us to visit other floors.
Once inside we had a wonderful time. Food was good. To my knowledge they never ran out of food. (Picture of menu included. Note that they denote vegetarian and gluten free on their menu,) They had candy, popcorn and alcoholic/nonalcoholic drinks. Music was great and lots of people dancing.
At one point someone claimed our table when we were watching a movie, but the staff took care of it and we were able to be seated at our table again after our movie was over.
They had a photo booth, horns, tiaras, beads and at midnight light up foam sticks. The balcony was huge. We were not crowded at midnight and got to see the ball drop. Note that you are viewing the ball from the side streets so you don't see the action on the ground in Time Square nor do you see the year light up or confetti drop, but you definitely see the ball drop and fireworks. (Picture of ball from balcony included.) It rained on New Year's eve so it was nice to be inside warm and dry. Balldrop had ponchos in case it was raining while the ball was dropping but it didn't.
While on the balcony waiting for the ball to drop we met a lovely family visiting from Ireland which only made our experience all the more joyous and memorable.
The event was till 1AM which was nice because most of Time Square had cleared out and we did not have to walk back to our hotel in a massive crowd.
I was skeptical about this experience with all the reviews being so-so, but I would definitely do this again and recommend it. Note that if you do not purchase a table then you had to stand or sit on the floor while eating. Thanks Balldrop for wonderful memorable...
Read moreI used ball drop to attend the Harbor Lights cruise. I was disappointed in the service of the two security men working on New Year’s Eve. On the second floor one short and stalky other tall dark skin with a hat with cursive on the back and Nike shoes. I complained a man was taking videos of me and other women and I said I was uncomfortable. I was told that “we are allowed to record people it’s a public event” etc. I know this but I reinstated that I am uncomfortable that’s not okay. The taller man proceeded to get argumentative with me and kept saying they weren't gonna do anything about the man and that people are allowed to record you. So they did not care for the safety of their passengers. Defeated I walked away and went downstairs because I was uncomfortable about being on the same level as him and the security. I found two women working. The manager a lady with glasses and hair pulled back and another lady with shorter hair who helped check in guest. They immediately got on it, went upstairs looking for the man and kept an eye on him for the rest of the night. I felt validated not ignored or dismissed and was very happy no one else would be bothered by him thank you so much to those ladies. The other men should be fired they don’t care about the people they are protecting or their job. The taller man I also heard and saw him being argumentative with another person as well. Its extremely disappointing women cannot feel...
