Beach Bum Tanning — Local services in New York

I stopped going to this location because they don't offer back to back infared sauna sessions. Also their machine doesn't work as well as it did prepandemic?

I spent an hour in there trying to sweat and it kept turning off every 15 minutes. The poor attendant didn't seem to understand why this was happening. I left having barely sweat at all probably because the temperature wasn't hot enough. I couldn't see it and I tried two different settings "weight management" and " fitness" that felt basically the same.

It's not just Beach Bum Tanning, so many places advertise Infared Saunas just to be apart of the latest health "trend" without understanding why they work well enough to become "trendy" in the first place. So they'll keep temperatures too low or barely give you any time in them to have the optimal effect.

It wasn't expensive but at any price, it wasn't worth it. They wanted me to buy a package of sessions too. And I know that they don't give refunds, so I declined and apparently the back to back sessions are a "one time thing".

Maybe they're better with Tanning but this buisness is always up to something funny with their sales. They're never straightforward with their pricing, you always owe more money somehow.

I have to say I am disappointed with the results. I was clearly unexperienced with airbrush tanning. I felt the person at the front desk was very impatient answering my questions. I was given the BEFORE instructions AFTER I actually did the tanning spray and paid the $78 after tax, and clearly if I had known what to do before I would have waited to try it as it requires quite some preparation. The result is absolutely disgusting. The color is way too dark for me (while they justify the price because it is a personnalised experience) and I was even recommended a second layer. I still look like a freak after 6 days. It does not go away. I have stains everywhere. I went back to show my hands as I was not given the appropriate product after the session to wipe it out and they gave me a wipe but it did not work. I paid over $80, I feel ugly. Given the price: Poor customer advice. Never felt my trust was so abused by a business. I do not recommend to anyone unfamiliar with airbrush tanning as you will not receive...

This is one of the worst beach bum locations I’ve been too. I’ve been to at least 3 different locations in NJ and can say hands down the NJ locations are much much better than this NY location. In this specific location, the staff was not aware of the % of reddening vs bronzing on the different levels of machines like they are in other locations. In other locations they show pictures of the machines and the levels so you know exactly what you are getting. I purchased a single diamond level tan , which is supposed to be ALL bronzing , and was red a couple of hours after the tan. (This is not typical for my type of skin). Paid for a top tier bed , and was clearly put in a lower tier bed. Would never go here again.
