Blaustein Paint & Hardware — Local services in New York

I had a rather unusual household problem that required a creative solution, & happened to be near Blaustein Paint & Hardware (after having failed to have the problem resolved at Home Depot), so decided to stop in. What I was most impressed by was that the sales associate, who greeted me immediately upon entry, really listened to & attempted to solve the problem.

I have to admit that Home Depot is my go-to, just because they have such a large inventory, but that large inventory is a double-edged sword. More often than not, I find that the sales associates are not cross-trained so, if the product or solution you're looking for is not in the section they have been trained to oversee, you're left with the options of seeking out sales associates in different departments to tell your tale of woe multiple times or assume they don't carry what you need & leave.

All this to say, my visit to Blaustein's was a great reminder of the value of one's neighborhood...

Went into Blaustein the other day trying to get a copy of an old mail box key. I'd been told I might not be able to get a copy. Instead of telling me no, Dymitry took the time to contact a locksmith and gave me all the info. I was able to get the keys same day AND they all worked. Besides this, the store is very well stocked and organized. And again, customer service...

DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible experience. Moving. Bought a measuring tape bc we couldn't find ours. Returned home and literally 30 minutes after purchasing it, found ours so went to return it. Still in the package. Never opened and had our receipt. Older man behind the register said he refuses to issue any refunds. I wont be...
