Tanning Spa NYC — Local services in New York

Machine turned off after 7 mins because I pressed the button to increase the fan level, & when I mentioned what had happened to the employee she didn’t want to put me in for the last 3 minutes because it is illegal to do more than 10 minutes when I clearly did 7 mins. I would have came out and told her immediately when the machine turned off but I was naked, so I had to get dressed come out and tell her which is why it took a few minutes. Overall this unnecessarily bothered and disrupted my day & maybe machine two and the fan can be fixed so that no one else is gaslit into thinking the machine was on for 10 mins by the customer service. The error sign was on the machine in room 2, so there was proof of what had happened. I tried to reason with her but she laughed at me in front of 10 plus customers and made it seem like I was trying to go back in there for more time. Again, I’m really glad the place was packed so that others saw her demeanor & hopefully this dismayed other customers from coming back here. I was very nice and understanding and I told her at the end of the day it is fine that this happened in order to de-escalate her response as she was making me uncomfortable with her laughing and ‘what do you want me to do’ attitude, but I told her just so you know this is what happened in room two with the machine malfunction and she continued with her ‘what do you want me to do’ / ‘I don’t care attitude’. I have been to this tanning spa almost over a year ago and I only go once a year and buy a package. I’m really glad I did not get a package this time. I’m not sure what her goal was when I was addressing the issue, but it seemed like the fact that the machine had turned off & left me at 7 mins with an error message & was clearly broken/ malfunctioning was my fault. Immature customer service - and I only say this because it is one thing to talk it through with the customer and take a look at the machine to see the error message & acknowledge what the customer is stating and it is another to laugh in the customers face, after they express their concerns with you, which is exactly what the woman did. Not sure what her disconnect and issue was when I brought up what had happened but it was alarming and rude. I’m glad that the store was packed as other customers saw the interaction. On top of all this room two had a massive shard of broken piece of plastic on the floor. I noticed it when I was applying my bronzing lotion and threw it out myself. I've just visited this gem today for the first time and let me tell you, I am thrilled to have found it.

First, I'll preface this review and tell you that I am going through a major transition in my life and absolutely nothing feels easy at the moment. So... stressed, hungover... basically a wet bag of garbage with a hole in it... I walk in. The manager at the desk was fantastic in getting me all set up with an account etc...

Initially I was concerned about tanning again because often staff at tanning salons suck and don't know anything about lotions because they're 7 years old. Happy to report this is not the case at all. The manager was very warm, funny and gave me a full rundown of the lotions best fit for my skin. I ended up buying the best one he recommended which has some sort of ant-aging chemical or plant in it. I don't know. If there's ever a class action against the maker due to reports of mesothelioma I will update this review for you. I doubt it though, it feels great on.

The salon is packed with the cutest of touches. Think equinox of tanning if equinox staff weren't frigid. Incredibly clean, well kept and tastefully done. Also the music is such a vibe. I wear my own AirPods but really enjoy theirs as well.

Update: I've been here multiple times now and each time better than the time before. I've gotten a great base tan that felt a little flat but faded to a natural color overnight. Absolutely in love with the staff here. I'm always in and out quick, they are so personable and fun. The whole vibe is really an incredible escape from the madness of NYC even if for just a few minutes.

I walked in here looking like a ghost and emerged with the tan of the gods. This place is incredible! I was getting married in Jamaica after spending two years isolating indoors and avoiding the sun during the pandemic. For multiple reasons (looking sexy, feeling healthy, building resistance against sunburn), my now-wife and I decided to try a tanning salon. The choice was simple based on our home location and the glowing reviews for Future Tan's Tanning Spa. Over the course of one month, we worked with Jason, Tristan, and Sarah to gradually build a base and then dial up a warm uniform tan from head to toe. I used a series of tanning beds based on their recommendation. All were very clean and easy to use. I loved the bronzing bed that plays trippy reggae/island beats out of built-in speakers. For the final session, shortly before our flight to Jamaica, Jason gave me his famous spray tan. I was hesitant at first because I know people who have looked orange or unnatural after a spray tan, or where their spray tan washed off after a couple days. Not so with Jason. He maintained the natural tone that I had developed in the tanning beds, but accentuated all my muscles and curves. I was shocked later that day when everything coalesced. I am an average athlete, but Jason made me look like a rockstar. Better yet, I was able to shower with soap and swim in the pool/ocean for the next week and the spray tan barely faded. My wife looked like an Avenger after Jason worked his magic. After the end of the month, we boarded our flight and disembarked in Jamaica looking like a celebrity couple. Our family and friends commented on our tan and toned bodies, but no one guessed that we used a tanning salon until we told them.
