Iâve gone here two times and both times Iâve seen someone pick candy out of the containers using their fingers. As a Nordic person I love this product and frequently visit the Allen street location, but the staff at this location does not have control over the sanitary standards that there should be.
Edit: In response to the owner's response. I didn't write this review to get on-the-house experiences, but to help people not get sick, which is really your job, but one you're not doing. But in the name of Nordic cooperation, I'll share some more details and my view on what you should do different.
When you think about candy shops in the Nordics, they all have one thing in common, and it's that when you walk in, the first thing you see is the eyes of the staff. Just like in the Allen street location, you're instantly met with the staff, that ask if you've been there before, and guide to you to the hand disinfectant, clean scoops and bags. Get a scoop in a person's hand and a thought in their mind that someone is keeping an eye on them, and most people act accordingly from there on.
Here in the UES location this doesn't happen. For whatever reason, you've decided to place the checkout all the way to the back of the store, leaving the front unmonitored. First time I walked in here, all of the staff were in the back sitting on the floor playing with a dog, while an elderly gentleman was helping themselves to free treats using their fingers. I told them that they shouldn't do that, and they walked out muttering. Again - eyes on the people is all you need. Also you might want to instruct your staff better in hygiene in general - I didn't see any handwashing happening after they got up from the floor and the doggo.
Second time was a very similar incident, staff in the back having a conversation with each other, and two teenagers in the front, both with a bag, but only one with a spoon and the other one using their hand to fill the bag.
I hope you review the way you have structured the store, and especially motivate your staff to do their work. And maybe some day I'll dare to take a risk and try this location again. Pretty grossed out...
Read moreI went in with low expectations since Iâm usually skeptical about TikTok famous places. With that being said I was impressed by the candy. People can call it what they want and are entitled to their own opinions, but as someone thatâs been to Europe and had basic to high end candy⌠this place deserves high marks. I anticipated on having a mediocre experience here, but it looks like I will be taking a trek here ever so often. Staff members were efficient, friendly, and informative. Especially when it came to guiding us on what was displayed where to help us navigate before going into the tiny store to ensure we werenât scattered around the store. If I had one mild critique, it would be that tongs might be easier than scoops for flat candy. I was also bummed that I couldnât find cherry flavored candy.
Bonbon definitely gets sour candy right. It gives you a punch of flavor and mellows out in such a pleasant manner. The sour skulls were probably my favorite followed by the sour cherry (?) licorice discs. (If you arenât a licorice lover, this item will convert you to liking it)....
Read moreI didnât know about this place till a friend told me to bring them some back home. My friend was excited for a candy called BUBs they saw on tik tok or instagram but they didnât have it. I asked the two cashiers for assistance which seemed like they didnât want to help. No sense of customer service what so ever. So no BUBs at the shop, only 4oz scoop candy you see on their site. Way overpriced candy(1pd for $18). Top of everything the two cashiers stare you down as you read the labels of the assorted candy baskets they have. Makes you feel very uncomfortable, like chill Iâm not going to steal your mediocre candy. I own a retail business myself and we donât stare customers and make them feel uneasy. Save your money and give it to a local business who actually treat their customers correctly and with care. Plenty of shops around the area who will take care of you better. Donât fall...
